Ryderstedt vs Volandri Betting: The local hero can upset the Italian favourite in Bastad
My second pick will actually be fairly similar to the first one. Unfortunately, Swedish tennis fans are not going to see Robin Soderling in action in this year's edition of the ATP tournament in Bastad, so Michael Ryderstedt will have to take the Swedish flag and fight for his country this year. He is going to play against Filippo Volandri in the first round and I can definitely see him upsetting the Italian favourite. Pinnacle are offering more than 3.00 for his victory and I feel that there is some value in those odds.
Both guys had to retire from their previous matches, so there might be some doubts about their health conditions, but you can be sure that the Swedish hero is going to give it his best today. On paper, he is a fairly poor player, but it seems that he is a completely different guy on the Swedish soil and I am going to take a risk based on that.
Last year, he managed to defeat Maximo Gonzalez and Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo before losing against Nicolas Almagro in two tight sets, so he can indeed play really well. A closer look at his Davis Cup record also suggests that he loves playing for his country, as he managed to take a set off Viktor Troicki on two ocassions (once in Sweden, once in Serbia).
Finally, we all know that Volandri can be really poor at times. Like Ryderstedt, Volandri loves playing in his home country, but his record outside Italy is indeed rather average and you can never trust him at short odds. Throw the retirement into the mix and going against him today is fairly logical.
Back Michael Ryderstedt to beat Filippo Volandri for a 1/10 stake at 3.34 with Pinnacle
