Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians Betting: Rajasthan can finish a disappointing season with a win at home
The second match of Sunday’s double header in the Indian Premier League is a dead rubber as Rajasthan Royals can no longer make the playoffs and their opponents Mumbai Indians are already in the playoffs and can’t improve on their league position whether they win or lose in this match so both sides are playing for pride or momentum. Mumbai come into the match in Jaipur as the 8/13 favourites with Ladbrokes.
Rajasthan just haven’t been able to find any consistency this season and in the end that has cost them a playoff spot after a bright start to the season. Shane Watson hasn’t landed the big innings regularly enough since he came into the side and Ajinkya Rahane’s form has dipped at the wrong time. With the ball their attack started the season well but it has been found wanting at critical times in matches recently which has put them on the back foot.
Mumbai Indians haven’t really ever been consistent in the tournament but they have safely secured their spot in the playoff and it could be that a few of their star names are rested in this match to avoid any unnecessary injuries before their first playoff match in Pune on Tuesday. The likes of Lasith Malinga and Sachin Tendulkar as well as Kieron Pollard who have all had injuries during the tournament could be given the night off.
I think Rajasthan might be worth a go to end the season in front of their own fans with a win. Even if Mumbai’s stars play they might leave a little bit in the locker for the playoff series in which they will have to play three matches if they are to win the tournament. Rajasthan still have a pretty decent record at home and I’ll take them to win this one.
