Quigg vs Arthur Betting: Scott Quigg can push for fight with Carl Frampton with second half stoppage
The Reebok Stadium in Bolton plays host to the Saturday Fight Night cameras this week and the main bout on the card is the British super-bantamweight title match between the up and coming Scott Quigg and Jamie Arthur. Scott Quigg is still only 23 but he makes the first defence of his British title ahead of a potential clash with Carl Frampton down the line. Quigg is a very short 1/25 with Boylesports to win this fight.
Scott Quigg is talked about by many as being the real deal. We may not see that in this fight but I’m sure we will down the line. The Bury boxer brings an unbeaten record into this contest having won all 23 of his fights so far in his career with 16 of them coming by way of stoppage. He won the title last time out by stoppage when Jason Booth was forced to retire mid way through the fight.
Jamie Arthur comes into this fight with a pretty modest record it has to be said. He has had 23 fights like Quigg but he has already lost 5 of those fights, being stopped on two occasions. That’s clearly one issue ahead of this fight and another one is that he’s only stopped 4 of his 18 victims so he won’t have the power to keep Quigg at bay for long enough in this fight. Arthur has been the Commonwealth champion, a title he lost to Booth.
The form like through Jason Booth is a significant one for me. Arthur lost a split decision to Jason Booth whereas Quigg stopped him emphatically and I expect Quigg to stop Arthur here too. If he is to fight Carl Frampton then he will need to look good here and I expect him to look good and win this with a second half stoppage.
