Premier League Betting: Manchester City now 4/7 to win title after going two points clear of United
Manchester City are now no bigger than 4/7 with William Hill to win their first Barclays Premier League title after reopening a two point lead at the top of the table over the weekend after seeing off Fulham 3-0 on Saturday evening. City went into the game level on points with their rivals Man Utd who played on Sunday so Roberto Mancini’s men knew a win would put the pressure on the champions.
That was a result which never looked in much doubt really. From the minute Sergio Aguero put the leaders ahead from the penalty spot after 10 minutes the result was only ever going to be a City win. A Chris Baird own goal on the half hour ensured that was the case before Edin Dzeko put a stamp of authority on the score line in the second half from close range to send the City faithful home happy on a snowy night.
Manchester United would have seen that result going into their match at Chelsea on Sunday and it looked like the pressure had got the better of them as they fell 3-0 down shortly after half time. A first half Jonny Evans own goal coupled with goals from Juan Mata and David Luiz put Chelsea 3-0 up and seemingly home and hosed against the champions.
Manchester United aren’t champions for no reason though and they hit back with two Wayne Rooney penalties to put the wind up Chelsea who by now were clinging onto their lead having tried to defend the lead at 3-0. Sir Alex Ferguson sent Hernandez on and he was rewarded when the Mexican landed the equaliser in the last 10 minutes to secure what could be a valuable point for United. United can be backed at 15/8 with BetVictor to defend their title in what now looks a two horse race.
