Parmentier vs Medina Garrigues Betting: In-form Parmentier can get through to the second round

Pinnacle are once again offering decent odds for the WTA tournament in Paris and I have to say that I like one selection from today's schedule. Pauline Parmentier, one of the local hopes, is going to play against Anabel Medina Garrigues and I do not really know why is she priced as the underdog here.

Sure, Anabel Medina Garrigues is the bigger name and she is also more experienced than Pauline Parmentier, but she almost never competes in indoor events and does not really like to play on quick courts. Furthermore, she had to spend some time off the courts due to an injury, so she might not be fully ready for this. Who knows, perhaps she just wants to get some match practice here. After all, she is not defending any ranking points and her results from previous years are simply horrible (just two wins from seven tries).

Meanwhile, Pauline Parmentier comes here on the back of some lovely performances in the Fed Cup (the results are a bit misleading in my opinion) and should like the conditions much more than Medina Garrigues. She is all about big hitting and has already defeated the likes of Lucie Safarova or Bojana Jovanovski indoors, which is never easy.

Don't get me wrong - Anabel Medina Garrigues is better than Pauline Parmentier in terms of overall quality. However, everything else (surface, current form, fitness, etc.) speaks in Parmentier's favour and I am willing to back her at a price that is well above evens. She can out-muscle Parmentier from the baseline and Medina Garrigues should not be able to do much damage with her slices and drop shots today. Normal stakes, but this is definitely worth a try.
