Nicholson vs Huybrechts Betting: Kim Huybrechts can repeat his World Championship win over Nicholson
The action in the European Darts Open in Dusseldorf concludes on Friday with Paul Nicholson taking on Kim Huybrechts in a rematch of their controversial World Championship meeting. Unlike that one which was over the best of seven sets, this one is over the best of 11 legs for the right to face either Dave Chisnall or Kevin Munch in the last 32. Huybrechts goes into the match as the 4/5 favourite with Boylesports.
Paul Nicholson has had an up and down start to 2012. He hasn’t been helped by a persistent shoulder problem which has dogged him. Since partnering Simon Whitlock to the final of the World Cup at the start of February, Nicholson has only reached the last 16 of four events and hasn’t been beyond that stage in any of them which isn’t what we come to expect from someone of his quality. A poor week here could see him failing to qualify for the World Matchplay.
Kim Huybrechts is full of confidence. This is his first full year on the PDC circuit but he’s making great strides already and has long since ensured he will be in Blackpool in two weeks time for the World Matchplay. His run to the quarter finals of the World Championship launched him as a player to watch and since then he has been the quarter finals or better of eight tournaments.
Huybrechts without doubt brings the better confidence to the oche with him in this match and for me he brings the heavier scoring too. These two have met on three occasions in the past and Huybrechts has won on all three occasions which is no surprise to me as he matches up well to the Geordie come Australian. Nicholson isn’t in good form whereas the Belgian is and I expect the form to hold up in Friday’s finale.
Back K.Huybrechts to beat P.Nicholson for a 4/10 stake at 1.80 with Boylesports
