NFL Betting: New York Giants 20/1 with Blue Square to defend their Super Bowl crown next season
New York Giants won Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis on Sunday night when they won a thrilling season finale against the New England Patriots 21-17 and they are an early price of 20/1 with Blue Square to retain their title next season. As Green Bay Packers found out that’s not an easy thing to do but Tom Coughlin’s men certainly have the potential to improve with a number of youngsters in their side.
The same can’t automatically be said of New England Patriots though but that doesn’t stop most firms pricing them up as second favourites for next year’s Super Bowl. Admittedly a lot of that will be down to the large support they carry in the UK but even so Ladbrokes’ 8/1 quote on Tom Brady’s team winning the title next year looks a touch on the short side to me, even with them in a relatively smooth division.
Green Bay Packers had the best record in the regular season just passed and having won the Super Bowl the previous year everyone thought they would retain it but lost to the Giants in the playoffs. They are favourites to regain the crown next year though with Ladbrokes also top price on them at 7/1 which again looks a wee bit short.
The Super Bowl next year is to be held at the Super Dome in New Orleans and the New Orleans Saints are the third favourites to win the Super Bowl in their own stadium. They weren’t far away from winning it this year having last won it in 2009. Bet365 are a top price on the Saints at 9/1 which looks fair enough at first glance.
As well as New England in the AFC, one of the fancied sides next year is Houston Texans. The Texans were bitterly unlucky this season losing both Quarterbacks to injury and having to go into the playoffs with a rookie which ultimately cost them. They are 12/1 with Skybet for Super Bowl XLVII.
