Netherlands vs Gloucestershire Betting: Netherlands better death bowling can see them across the line
The Sky Sports cameras take a first trip to Amsterdam on Friday afternoon for the Netherlands’ Clydesdale Bank 40 match against Gloucestershire. This could hardly be a bigger match in this competition with the Netherlands in second place in the Group A table and Gloucestershire in fourth place coming into this match. Both have games in hand on the leaders Middlesex but the loser here will find it hard to catch them.
The Netherlands go into this match as 13/10 outsiders with Bet365 despite having home advantage. They have been busy over the last week beating the UAE in a two match ODI series and sharing a T20 series against Bangladesh which they won the second match to level the series on Thursday. The strength of the Netherlands is their bowling attack with Pietar Seelaar and Mudassar Bukhari the standouts but the likes of Tom Cooper and Wesley Barresi keep them competitive with the bat too.
Gloucestershire have already suffered one disappointment this week when they lost in the quarter finals of the Friends Life T20 at Sussex. In fairness they weren’t far away in that match but a world class innings from Scott Styris proved the difference in the end. With the bat Gloucestershire look well covered with the likes of Hamish Marshall and Alex Gidman joined by Rob Nicol but their bowling attack is young and can go for a few at the end as we saw on Tuesday night at Hove.
Gloucestershire’s young bowling attack could be the difference here. They just concede far too many in the death overs and there’s no Murali to bail them out in the middle. The first match between these two was a high scoring one and I expect this one to be too but the Netherlands look to have the better bowling attack and sufficient enough batsmen to get the job done here.
