Nassau Stakes Betting Guide
Nassau Stakes (Group 1)(1m2f)
The big race as far as quality is concerned on the last day at Goodwood is the Group 1 Nassau Stakes for fillies and mares. It’s run over a mile and attracts the best females from around Europe. Henry Cecil and Midday completed a prestigious hat-trick of wins after taking the 2011 renewal and trainer Aidan O’Brien had won it the two years proceeding. Leading trainer in the race though is Sir Michael Stoute, victorious no fewer than seven times.
The race has been staged since 1840 and was for three year old fillies, in 1975 it was opened up to the older mares and has been a Group 1 race since 1999. The trip is just short of 1m 2f and therefore those that have contested the classic races in England and Ireland usually head to Goodwood next.
This is a race for the punters with every winner in the last sixteen years featuring high up in the betting market and nine favourites have obliged in the last thirteen years. Most of these fillies are consistent sorts and have good current form in the book.
