Murphy vs Davis Betting: Shaun Murphy can land his first title of 2012 by beating Mark Davis in Six Red final
The Six Red World Championship has reached the final stage out in Bangkok and the two men contesting the final on Saturday are Shaun Murphy and Mark Davis. They will do battle over the best of 15 frames for the right to be crowned Six Red world champion. Both men have had good runs to the final so this should be a competitive final, a final which Murphy is 8/13 with BetVictor to win.
Shaun Murphy is no stranger to winning titles but he hasn’t won one since he won the Brazilian Open last year which is a long time by his standards. He thrashed Judd Trump in Friday’s semi finals having previously ended the hopes of the local hero James Wattana earlier in the knockout stages. Murphy looks to be scoring very well which used to be a hallmark of his game and when his scoring is working everything else tends to fall into place.
Mark Davis is a former winner of this tournament and he’ll be eyeing the silverware again on Saturday. The Sussex shooter is enjoying a decent start to the season having made it to the semi final of the Wuxi Classic last week and now this in Thailand. The six red format seems to suit him well having won this tournament in the past and having already beaten Stephen Lee and Ricky Walden this week he’s in the final by merit.
I just favour Murphy here though. I think it will be a good final but when Murphy is scoring as well and as consistently as he has done this week he becomes a very tough nut to crack. Mark Davis has had a fantastic tournament but he can be found wanting still ever so slightly against the game’s star players. Murphy is one of those and I expect him to prove that in this final.
