Liverpool vs Gomel Betting: Liverpool look an excellent price to win second leg without conceding
Brendan Rodgers has his first competitive match at Anfield in charge of Liverpool on Thursday night when the Merseyside giants take on Gomel of Belarus in the second leg of their Europa League play off tie. Liverpool lead the tie 1-0 from the away leg in Belarus when a Stewart Downing goal was enough to claim victory and they will look to see the job through in this second leg. Liverpool are 1/5 with Stan James to win this second leg.
Luis Suarez could make his return to Liverpool colours in this match as Brendan Rodgers has named a strong squad for his first home match in charge of the club. Jose Reina could also play but there is no place in the squad for Andy Carroll. Fabio Borini could feature for the first time in a Liverpool shirt in a competitive match at Anfield after his move from Roma earlier in the summer.
Gomel of Belarus were tight in the first match but rarely threatened Liverpool and you would expect them to crumble in the big game environment of Anfield. They currently sit third in the top flight of Belarus seven points behind BATE Borisov with whom they have two games in hand of ahead of the next round of matches this weekend. Russian Aleksandr Alumona is the man given the task of leading the line as the Belarusians look to get back into this tie.
I think it is a fairly obvious statement that Liverpool will win this match but at 1/5 I’m not a player. Admittedly it is still their pre-season and there will be a lot of going through the motions about the hosts in this match, especially with them being ahead in the tie but I expect to see a few quality moments from them in the game and given that, and given that I expect them to be dominant in defence which will be helped by Reina’s return, I think the 4/5 about Liverpool winning to nil is an excellent bet even at this stage of the season.
