Leeds vs Hull FC Betting: Hull can stay within 14pts of Leeds despite all their injuries
The Super League weekend begins at Headingley on Friday night as the Leeds Rhinos welcome Hull FC for a Yorkshire derby which has a fair bit of importance to both sides. With matches beginning to run out Leeds need to keep winning to not only secure a playoff place but to do so from a decent position in the table while Hull FC are still chasing a top four spot which makes life slightly easier in the playoffs.
Leeds go into the match as the 2/7 favourites with William Hill but they haven’t been at all consistent this year to merit those odds. The Rhinos have won their last three matches but they have all been against meagre opposition and this will comfortably be the toughest match of that run. Jamie Peacock is set to make his 350th Super League appearance in this match while Brett Delaney returns to the side. Brent Webb remains sidelined.
Hull FC are dogged by injury problems at the minute and the news that Danny Tickle and Sam Moa will miss the remainder of the season with arm injuries hasn’t helped. They were already without the likes of Will Sharp, Danny Houghton, Tony Martin and Mark O’Meley. That has meant assistant coach Lee Radford has had to be put on standby for this match. Hull still have sufficient quality in the key areas though.
Leeds are probably rightful favourites for this match given Hull’s injury crisis but I’m not so sure they should be giving up 14pts in this match. It was only a couple of weeks ago that they were shipping 40pts here to Wakefield and Hull have a lot more potency in their attack than Wakefield. I expect Leeds to win but Hull have more than enough quality in the likes of Westerman, Horne, Yeaman, Briscoe and Manu to stay comfortably within 14pts of Leeds in this one.
