Kings XI Punjab vs Chennai Super Kings Betting: Chennai's winning mentality can see them through in must win game
Kings XI Punjab’s recent revival ended at the hands of the Delhi Daredevils last time out and with it almost went their hopes of making the playoffs. If they lose to Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of Thursday’s double header in the IPL then they will officially no longer be able to make the playoffs. This match is Chennai’s last and to have any chance of a playoff spot you feel they have to win it.
This is the first match of the season to be played in Dharamsala which is a lovely venue up in the Indian mountains. Both sides need to win but Kings XI are 6/4 with William Hill to win the match. Their batting never really got going against Delhi and while their bowlers got them back into the match a late flourish saw Delhi home. Kings XI must make sure their batsmen come to the party in this match.
Chennai have done it again. They started the season slowly as they always seem to do but they have turned their season around and a win here should be enough for them to make it into the playoffs at the end of the season. Their last win was incredible. Chasing just under 160 against the Kolkata Knight Riders they got into all sorts of strife in the run chase before Dwayne Bravo hit a six off the last ball when 5 was needed to win.
Chennai seem to have this knack of winning at the business end of the season and there’s no reason I see why that can’t happen again. That won’t be easy here purely because Kings XI need the win every bit as much as what Chennai do but you would have to say Chennai have the better quality in their squad and at this time of the season that can be the telling difference.
