Hylton vs Klaasen Betting: Mark Hylton can continue his improvement in form by beating Klaasen in Dusseldorf
Jelle Klaasen is always a popular player whenever the PDC bandwagon are on mainland Europe and the crowds in Dusseldorf will be hoping to see ‘The Matador’ come past Mark Hylton when they meet in the first round of the European Darts Open on Friday night. The two will do battle over the best of 11 legs with the winner progressing to a last 32 clash with either James Wade or Magnus Caris.
Mark Hylton comes into the match as the 4/5 favourite with Stan James. He hasn’t made the best of starts to 2012 but there are signs that he might be coming into a bit of form. He made the quarter final of a Players Championship event last weekend where he beat the current man in form Dave Chisnall along the way as well as Steve Beaton. Hylton hasn’t qualified for the World Matchplay later in the month and with this being the final tournament before that it is a big event for ‘Mile High’.
Jelle Klaasen has begun 2012 in rotten form. He has only been past the last 16 of any tournament once in the current year and needless to say he has dropping down the rankings and is nowhere near qualifying for the World Matchplay. On his day Klaasen can beat anyone as he’s shown in the past but there’s no signs that his form is returning. Klaasen’s fast style always makes him erratic and currently inconsistent.
I can’t really see beyond Mark Hylton in this match. He is the more solid player anyway but the boost his confidence will have had last weekend should give him an extra edge in this match. Klaasen is always likely to go better on the continent where he hasn’t had to travel as much and will get plenty of support but I expect Hylton’s consistent scoring to prove too much and send the Englishman into the next round.
Back M.Hylton to beat J.Klaasen for a 4/10 stake at 1.80 with Stan James
