Hampshire vs Durham Betting: Durham look overpriced in crucial Group C battle
Group B of the Clydesdale Bank 40 is like a tournament in itself but that provides us with plenty of good matches, one of which is on our screens on Sunday when Hampshire entertain Durham at the Ageas Bowl. Hampshire come into the match second in the group table while Durham sit in third, three points behind Hampshire and with a game in hand. Despite their close position in the table Hampshire are 4/6 favourites with Coral.
Hampshire have won four of their six matches so far with a defeat to Notts and a no result against Surrey to their names. This will be their first CB40 match since the break for the T20, a T20 which they made it out of their group and into the quarter finals. Hampshire will be without their top scorer in the tournament in Michael Carberry but Neil McKenzie steps in to cover for him. Simon Katich is the overseas player.
Durham come into the match without too many injury concerns. Paul Collingwood was named in the squad and is expected to feature which will be a boost. In the likes of Phil Mustard, Ben Stokes and Dale Benkenstein the Dynamos have some very good batsmen at this level while I still believe Graham Onions is one of the best bowlers in the country and he’s well supported by the likes of Scott Borthwick and Chris Rushworth.
Durham can get themselves right back in the mix with a win here and I think they are overpriced to get that win. They have some top players themselves and Phil Mustard especially is in good form in this competition. Neil McKenzie is an able replacement for Michael Carberry but it is a lot of runs Hampshire miss out on with their opener absent and at 13/10 there’s no doubt in my mind that Durham are the value call here.
