Great Britain vs Spain Betting: Great Britain's men can pick off Spain to ensure a semi final spot
Great Britain’s men’s hockey team need one point from their final match against Spain on Tuesday night to guarantee a place in the semi finals but should Australia drop points to Pakistan earlier in the day then a win against Spain will see GB win the group and avoid the Dutch in those semi finals. Britain go into their final match as the even money favourites with Stan James.
Great Britain are yet to lose in this tournament having won two and drawn two matches so far. They have wins over Pakistan and Argentina and draws against Australia and South Africa. The draw against South Africa was unwelcome but the one against Australia was a triumph having been 3-0 behind before coming back to level and draw 3-3. James Tindall and Barry Middleton have been the heroes so far for the host nation.
Spain come into the match with just one defeat from their four matches so far. That came in heavy style to Australia when they were beat 5-0 but either side of that they have had wins over South Africa and Argentina and drew with Pakistan. They have scored three goals in each of their last two matches so the British defence will have to be very watchful coming into this match.
I think Britain have what it takes to win this match. Spain are a little bit of surprise packages in this group as many thought it would be a three way shootout between Australia, Pakistan and Great Britain. That’s a credit to Spain but with the pressure ramped up and them having to win to be able to go through I think this will be a game too far for them. Britain have scored plenty of goals in this tournament and as Spain send men forward looking for the win GB can hurt them on the break and pick up the win which will secure their progress to the semi finals.
Back Great Britain to beat Spain for a 4/10 stake at 2.00 with Stan James
