Great Britain vs Pakistan Betting: Great Britain's men can struggle to see off Pakistan on the hockey pitch
Great Britain’s men’s hockey team let an excellent position in their preliminary group slip when they could only draw 2-2 at the Riverbank Arena on Wednesday and now they face Pakistan in a match which could potentially decide who will qualify for the semi finals behind Australia on Friday afternoon at the same venue. Should Britain lose here they will be struggling for a semi final spot but the same applies to Pakistan.
Great Britain will go into the match as 1/3 favourites with Coral but they know they will need to improve dramatically on their last performance if they are to get the three points they so desperately crave in this match. But for Ashley Jackson’s double either side of South Africa’s two goals on Wednesday it could have been a lot worse for GB who had started their campaign well with an emphatic 4-1 win over the tough and niggly Argentines.
Pakistan have an equal record in this tournament to Great Britain. They beat Argentina 2-0 and drew with Spain in their opening match. That draw with Spain wasn’t a result which would have been welcome back home but they still have qualification in their own hands. If the Asian Games winners can win this match they will be strong favourites to escape from the group although we would only be halfway through the group phase.
I think Great Britain will get a result of some kind out of this match but Pakistan +1.5 goals interests me. Given the massive implications this match has I expect it to be quite tight and I would be surprised if either side ran away with it. A draw wouldn’t really suit either side but it would keep both alive so you would have to say it’s more than a fair chance of ending level. GB look the better side to me but confidence has waned slightly in that draw with South Africa so I’ll take Pakistan +1.5 goals safe in the knowledge we have a 1 goal GB win on our side.
