German Snooker Masters Betting Guide
In February 2011 there was a ranking event in Germany for the first time since 1997 when the inaugural German Masters took place at the Tempodrom in Berlin. The WSA have identified Germany as a potential hotbed for the sport and by taking a ranking tournament there the aim is to develop new talent from Central Europe in the same way the snooker boom in China has taken off since the China Open was introduced.
The format for this event is very much in line with the Shanghai Masters and China Open. The top 16 in the world take their place in the last 32 and are joined by 16 qualifiers, 8 of whom have to come through a wildcard round against a player from Central Europe. As usual in the minor ranking events all matches up to the semi final are best of 9 frames with the format jumping to best of 11 frames for the semi final and then a best of 17 frame final.
Punters are somewhat stepping into the unknown with regards to betting on this particular event. The usual betting markets will be on show but it remains to be seen if any special markets will be drawn up.
