Default The Independent - Virgin Poker League

I see these games in the lobby - cannot see anything on the Independant web site (yet)

From the lobby, details seem to be:

Quote:
The Independant Poker League will run every Wednesday and Sunday throughout May. See Independant for passwords and details
Each heat seems to be a freeroll with $100 prize money. I dont know if one ran last night.

Yes - I'm pretty confident it's the paper - they have this from Virgin - http://www.independent.co.uk/extras/...s-1676934.html

but am I blind - I can't see a password.

How did you find the link tc? Was it published in the paper or have you found it searching on-line. Don't want to have something on the open forum if it's not freely available.

Well, "Independent Virgin Poker" seems to work as well, but that seemed a bit dull.

Quote:
While encouraging people to gamble responsibly, today The Independent, in a joint venture with Virgin Poker, launches its own poker league via independent.co.uk. “Nowadays there are over half a million regular online poker players logging on and playing,” says Joe Legge, poker product manager at Virgin Games. “For some, it’s their profession but for most it’s a form of entertainment that is mentally stimulating and doesn’t have to involve risking a lot of money. The Independent’s poker league is a great extension of our commitment to the social side of poker playing.”Steph Boyd, from Darvel near Glasgow, known simply by the gaming moniker of “mole man”, is one of the people who relies on poker playing online for his entire income, not just for entertainment.....
oops, didn't spot there's more after the advert, but I'll let you read on via the proper link.

Whilst trying to find the link (it wont open the page) ...... I had a read of the readers comments to the 'Poker Article'. Bloody Hell, there must be an awfullot of neanderthal 'Independent' readers.
See below a couple of the comments
Quote:
good to see the independent moving into gambling. can i get my order in
for 100 rounds for an AK47 when you start the arms trade will you be
developing 'difficult' pornography. and i presume youll be moving into phamaceuticals.
congratulations.
Quote:
.... Gambling destroys lives and I object to being manipulated by
an article purporting to be objective journalism but whose true
purpose is to advertise this newspaper's involvement in such
murky, get-rich-quick business. Shame on you
Quote:
Thanks you Independent for driving a few more victims into debt.

WIth readers like that at least the league may not be oversubscribed
