Euro 2008 Competition Sponsored by Betfair

I have been asked by one or two if it was possible to have some sort of a competition for Euro 2008 to give some interest over the summer.

As the games are on a daily basis this could be difficult with people with restricted access so i came up with the following idea;

Players predict the correct score of the 24 first round matches in advance and to keep the interest right up to the final you predict the top 4 teams for extra points.

TC CUP format will be applied

2pts for the correct result (max 2pts)
1pt for the correct amount of goals by either side (max 2pts)
1pt for getting both sides correct (max 1pt)

So 5pts maximum can be achieved in each of the 24 games.

Further bonus points for;

Rule Change 31st May

Predicting the top 4 teams in the competition
(3rd and 4th named teams in either order as there is no 3rd/4th place play off)

5pts if you name a team that reaches the semi finals stage
An extra 5pts if they reach the final, so for a finalist you will get 10pts in total.
An extra 5pts will be awarded if your Number 1 team win Euro 2008

Any games missed out will be void, no late posts accepted.

If Italy win Euro 2008 i get 15pts in total, If France finish 3rd/4th i get 5pts, if Holland lose the final i get 10pts

Can I suggest an extra dimesion to the competition - maybe a option to play "3 bankers" during the tournament's group phase?

This allows the person to mark 3 games as bankers, and they get double points for those 3 games. i.e. say they predict 1-0 "Banker", and the result was "2-0", the prediction was 3-1 - so 4 points (i.e. 2 x 2 for correct result). Or say someone prediced a 2-2 draw, and it was a banker - the match ends 2-2 (2 x 5 - double maximum points).

This would allow people to recognise possible bets aswell - we will know what people "really" like....
