Default World Cup Qualifiers - Sep 10/11

FRANCE - SERBIA (Wednesday; 10 Sep 2008 - 21:00 CET)

SERBIA

Goalkeepers: Vladimir Stojkovic(Sporting Lisbon), Vladimir Disljenkovic(Metalurg Donetsk)

Defenders: Branislav Ivanovic(Chelsea), Nemanja Vidic(Manchester United), Ivica Dragutinovic(FC Sevilla), Mladen Krstajic(Schalke 04), Dusko Tosic(Werder Bremen), Antonio Rukavina(Borussia Dortmund), Ivan Obradovic(Partizan Belgrade), Gojko Kacar(Hertha BSC)

Midfielders: Dejan Stankovic(Inter Milan), Ivan Ergic(FC Basel), Nenad Milijas(Red Star Belgrade), Milos Krasic(CSKA Moscow), Zdravko Kuzmanovic(Fiorentina), Sasa Ilic(RB Salzburg), Stefan Babovic(FC Nantes), Bosko Jankovic(Genoa), Zoran Tosic(Partizan Belgrade), Miralem Sulejmani(Ajax)

Forwards: Nikola Zigic(Valencia), Danko Lazovic(PSV Eindhoven), Marko Pantelic(Hertha BSC)

Serbia's lineup from the previous match, vs.Faroe Islands 2:0(Jon Roi Jacobsen(og) 31', Nikola Zigic 88'): Disljenkovic - Rukavina, Vidic, Dragutinovic, Obradovic - Krasic, Stankovic, Milijas (Ilic 61'), Zoran Tosic (Jankovic 76') - Pantelic (Lazovic 57'), Zigic; Coach: Radomir Antic

An extremely poor game by Serbia, with no real effort and no real pressure being made throughout the whole match and despite hitting the woodwork a couple of times, they failed to create any clear-cut chances against the Faroe part-timers who looked tactically quite good all night long.

However, there will be a few changes for the France match without a doubt. In the first place, 19-year-old young star Sulejmani(winger/forward) has missed the match in order to help Serbia U21 for Sunday's U21 Qualifying clash against Hungary, but he'll join the team for this trip, so he might be a key man for Serbia. He enjoyed a dream season at Heerenveen which saw him breaks a Dutch transfer record this summer with his move to Ajax!He already seems to be in a very strong form as he scored a cracker for Ajax in the first round of Dutch Eredivise!

Hertha BSC's Gojko Kacar has also joined Serbia U21 for the U21 Qualifying match mentioned above, but will be back into the team for the trip to France.

Croatia dnb @1.7

I thought the time for gifts on England was over, but bookies clearly think not. Hard to imagine who still thinks England are a good side. Incredible to think after two years of dismal fare that we can still get odds like this. England's problems are endemic, the players themselves are of decent quality (some of them) but the culture surrounding the national team is so dehabilitating that any bright sparks are quickly extinguished. In England the Premier league is everything and everything else is nothing. That includes the national side. You only have to look at the recent quotes from Jamie Carragher to see the evidence. Capello will change nothing, he may get the team into the WC via a play off but I don't hold out too much hope.

England lacked any sort of consistent attacking quality against Andorra although trying to attack an 11 man defence is difficult. Gerrard is definitely out of this one while there are still doubts over Ferdinand. Indeed there are doubts all over the pitch, who is going to play in midfield? Who's up front? etc, etc.... Croatian team is much more settled, ok they don't have Eduardo but the rest of the team is an impressive unit with Modric etc bossing the midfield. It's hard to imagine England will get anything in Zagreb, I'm sure that the 1x2 prices of 2.3+ are way off but with the safety net of the draw giving the money back I'm happy to pile in on the early asian prices with Pinnacle and co.

Betfair

Lay England 15pts@3.30

Croatia are similar standard to England and very good on home soil. If England were better why have they deservedly lost twice recently to them. These are the sort of games the Croats love.

I haven't gone for Croatia, because I think England may raise their game after recent criticism, but it would be a very big jump to become winners in this game.

England were truely woeful against Andorra but I think they'll raise their game for this one and may just scrape a draw.

However the last 7 days in football has been insane (Newcastle, Man City etc). As we all know football is a funny old game and anything can happen, so just for a laugh I'm going to have a few fun bet correct score singles on 3-0, 4-0, 5-0 to England. The odds are massive (and rightly so) I'll probably risk no more than a pound or 2 for each bet but in the unlikely event of us scoring an early goal it'll give me more excitement than saturdays game did. I don't expect it to come in but as I say its just for a bit of fun

Default Re: World Cup Qualifiers - Sep 10/11

I didn't do well on Saturday - 4/5 Overs were good with decent profir, but Poland ruined me as I was ''all in '' on the HW.
Trying to recover now, and 1,53 for HW in Sweden looks good as of the home advantage and the class diffrence. Sweden didn't start at their best, but I can see some people were expecting the draw in Albania. It is another point to consider - the Albanians do well at home vs better teams, in the Euro qualifiers all 3 contendes had a heavy game there - Romania, Holland and Bulgaria. Albania - 1 EH is at 2,00, but this one I will consider last, as Malta improved a lot in the last 3-4 years, Turkey had bad experience with them.
Looking at Overs in Turkey and Montenegro. Belgium started well, so did Turkey. Winning vs Estonia few years ago would have been considered a routine in Belgium, yet all Baltic countries are no punch bags anymore, Romania and Moldova had a hard lesson. Turkey should win this one, but I can't see them keeping a clean sheet as the Red Devils are very dangerous on counters.
Now that Estonia was mentioned, I wouldn't go for Bosnia at these odds. Hosts certainly have better individuals, but like I said no Baltic team should be underestimated these days. My banks are empty all over, but will consider Estonia +1 at 1,825, if any money left.
Montenegro will be playing vs a better defence this time, it is not that the Irish are having the best defending around, but atm it is certainly better than Bulgaria. Hosts proved to be good forward but still leaky at the back. Over @1,95 looks good, so does home win and Both teams to score as options. HW sounds a bit brave and it is priced well @3,00, but hosts are lethal forward. In fact I think that the final standing in the group will depend on how well the favourites do vs Montenegro, both home and away, as this team should be improving with time.
I am not touching Croatia, imo 1-1 is on the table, but the Croats never stop amasing me.
A treble with HWs for Russia, Sweden and Albania with 10/10 in hope to recover from the Polish shock.
Good luck

England ?? failure to score 4 past Andorra done me for £1600 !!!!

anyhow - nuff about that, Anyone betting on the Croatia game is a brave man, neither a 2-0, 2-2 or 0-2 would surprise me TBH, whoever plays above themselves should win the match and either side are capable on their day. Nowhere near, with the proverbial barge-pole for me.

Going to have another go with some handicap betting, gnats bawhair away at the weekend - final selections and prices to be decided.

Germany and the Netherlands look like bankers to me. good odds for away wins.. THe dutch got beat at the weekend by the aussies, but that was a friendly. They should beat MAcedonia, I dont rate MAcedonia that highly to be honest.. THe germans coasted by against LiechtenStein 6-0.... Good double in my opinion..

Agree with you on the Dutch but Germany is another thing until team news is confirmed. This is only a friendly after all and they could put out their second team just to allow the players to rest after their thrashing of Liechtenstein.

What's people's thoughts on Latvia v Greece? Latvia are no mugs and started well with a win in Moldova. 16/5 for a Latvia win seems big to me. Are Greece that good, especially away from home? 4/5 +1 Latvia is appealing to me as I think they could easily get a draw out of this one.

Azerbaijan V Liechtenstein, It is well known than Liechtenstein are woeful. Azerbaijan is a tough place to go for most teams and I like Evs for Azerbaijan -1

Albania - Malta 1-1 (HT/FT) - After great match against Sweden Albania should win this one in easy way. They have big hopes for this World Cup qualifiers and new boss Ariee Han (Truly a dutch football LEGEND) stated that he will play with 4-3-3 against Malta as he did against Sweden.I expect clear win by Albania here

Macedonia - Holland 2-2 (HT/FT)
- After lucky win against Scotland Macedonia will have hard job to resist the great team of Holland. With World Class players as Van Persie , Van Nistelroy , Van der Vaart and Robben I think Macedonia will concede more than 3 goals in this match. Clear win by Holland

Good Luck

Hello..
I'm following this forum for ages quietly, but have to react here..
I don't mean to offend anyone, and I respect all opinions, but you are clearly talking non-sense here, and have absolutely no idea about the stuff you're saying..
First of all.. Macedonian players had no lucky win over Scotland, the referee was killing us and helping the Scottish any way he could in the first half, then he was obviously told to take it easy, so he just lowered the pressure but kept whistling clearly favoring she Scottish side..
Second.. Van Nistelrooy isn't playnig, Sneider is injured.. he's not going.. Van der Saar retired.. Coach says he'd be pleased with a draw..
I'm not saying we shall win.. just that this is no banker.. especialy at half time, as Macedonian team rarely goes behind before 60 minutes pass..

Anyway.. GL everyone..
