The defending champion kick off this edition of the women world cup against the fast improving argentinians.The last time german met argentina it was a 6-1 thrashing.This might happen today and might not happen because german as usual are as strong as they always been in the womens game but argentina has improved so much this past few years that they even took the south american crown from brazil.It will be a big mistake for the germans to underestimate argentina and play with over confidence.German will win this if they are fully focus on the job and with the legendary birgit prinz and lingor guideing the team we can expect a truely fantastic game today.melanie behringer and anja mittag is the new generation of german players hoping to takeover the reign from the queen of german soccer prinz.They have shown enough qualities to be great players and are the players to watchout this time in the cup.Even if prinz have a off day we can expect kerstin garefrekes to step up for the goals.Argentina is no pushover has they were in the previous world but i don't see them taking anything from the germans in this match.

England topped their qualifying group played 8, won 6, drew 2...score 29 and conceded 2.... also in the group were some decent sides such as France and holland.

Japan also won their group of 4... playe 3 and won 3 scoring 17 and conceding 1...although the opposition were china, Vietnam and Taipei

Both England and Japan played Germany last year, England lost 5-1 and Japan lost 6-2


I think england are ranked 12th in the world and Japan 10th. My guess is that it will a close game with England just edging it, i will be avoiding the bet though

If they've beaten China then they are very good, alongside the US and Norway; China have been major forces in womans soccer. I think they had the last final

Actually China are no great shakes really IMO, ranked 12th in the world, although they do have home advantage this year.

They finished 3rd in the womens Aisian games, losing to Japan, South Korea and North Korea during that tournament. They played 4 and lost 4 during the Algarve football competition.....against USA, Finland, Sweden and Iceland.

Like I said home advantage will help them more than ability
