Soccer Next England Manager?

Next England Manager - Ladbrokes

Stuart Pearce 3/1
Felipe Scolari 6/1
Martin O'Neill 10/1
Arsene Wenger 14/1
Jose Mourinho 20/1
Sir Alex Ferguson 20/1
Sven Goran Eriksson 100/1

If Israel get a result vs England then he'll be for the chop...

None of the above appeal to me (Psycho, I suppose?) but has anyone else seen any others (Like Gus Hiddink?)

Fat Sam not even quoted

Its a bit early to talk of a McClaren exit I'm afraid, FA won't sack him until end of the qualifiers at the very earliest. I'd be stunned if they did before then.

Fat Sam best English manager around, by a country mile. Stuart Pearce? He must be in fierce competition with Gareth Southgate

The English have good memories, so don't be silly.

All we hear every world cup is 1966 this and that

So Sven may be very old before England fans would want him back, his piss poor management will linger long in the memory.

And while I'm about even longer, as Svens England lost 1-0 to Norn Iron

Seriously though, Sven must be the biggest waste of money in football management history. 5M a year? WTF! I am in the wrong job!

Good spot - forgot about Big Sam...

I reckon it's not too early to talk about Fake-grin Steve's exit - he'll be lucky to survive this year!

is there actually a point when the penny drops that England as a nation arent good enough ?

watch the italians and spanish keep the ball and be comfortable on it. pass and move through the middle.

I think it's becoming more and more obvious that England will never get anywhere near the level they seek to achieve. The quality of squad depth is shockingly poor, as soon as the first team is injured England start to look a pale imitation of themselves. The fact that we have a surplus of players in one area and a dire shortage in others doesn't help the matter too.

I think there's more chance of me becoming the next England manager at the moment than Stuart Pearce. Sacking waiting to happen at Manchester City and really hasn't done anything to suggest that he would be worthy of the England manager position. Only half chance he has is if he does well with the England Under 21s and turns this into his shot into the England job.

Let's be honest/realistic about it of the 4 British nations only England would be capable of winning a major honour with the right manager who could pick the best players and gel them together and get them to die for there Country aswellas have respect for each other.[Wayne Rooney needs to learn that] . I thought Kevin Keegan might of been capable of this i was wrong as for the rest of them i did'nt think it was the right choice at the time and how the heck my beloved WOLVES ended up with two of them [turnip/clarvoyant glen] i will never no.
The press have to stop building them up so high so quickly then just to destroy them.I would like Martin o'neill do it but i think they should get an English man with b?lls. Maybe big Sam.

in its simplicity you need 4 things to succeed
1) a good squad of players (not just good players or a good team, you need depth)
2) a manger who has abilities both in motivational work and tactical wisedom
3) a set of fans backing you up wholeheartedly
4) a national press that bigs up the team and gets the public behind the team.

I'd say England have nil from that list.

The Sontaran species would favour one of their own - Sontaran agent Dowie of your Coventry City FC would be a pleasing choice.

Tactical awareness.... a motivator, and most important ...... a neck as wide as his head.
