Default International friendly, 11/07, USA-Poland

11/07
USA-Poland
Soldier Field, Chicago

"What's the point of going to States if you know you're gonna get the spanking??!!"-these are the words of one of the official members of polish squad. this rematch is part of the contract. first game was held in March, Poland (Team A) lost at home 0-1. before that we lost tragically 1-3 to Sweden, then the accidental win over future Euro-champs Greece 1-0 ( ), boring 0-0 with Ireland. and finally was the match with Yanks.
the polish squad that is being taken accross the occean is not even Poland B...that's Poland C at most, with some reserve players from polish league sides...not a single player from a foreign club is in the squad, not even a single one from the current polish champion, Wisla Krakow. the season in Poland starts late August, so the players in the squad present typical holliday form, whereas MLS is in the full swing. the last warm up game before the trip was played with 2nd Div rookies (english 3rd Div), national side won playing awfully 3-0 , all goals after the break, the MOTM Poland A's 3rd goalie, Artur Boruc...
some polish players look at this trip as a chance to meet the relatives in the States. even chief of Polish FA said there was nothing to do, and the game must be held as part of the deal.

Yanks will field the strongest squad with Tim Howard between the posts, midfielder Landon Donovan( 51 caps) i Marcus Beasley(35 caps, scored in the last game vs Poland), Brian McBride(76 caps). just to compare, Paweł Kaczorowski played only 12 times in the polish national side( the most caps in the current squad)...
the game is held in Chicago, with the biggest population of polish folks, so full house is guaranteed. besides i heard this game is the tenth anniversary of 94' World Cup so the hosts will definately be up for it.

USA:
Tim Howard (Manchester United), Zach Thornton (free), Chris Albright (Los Angeles), Carlos Bocanegra (Fulham), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Cory Gibbs (Dallas), Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado), Eddie Pope (New York/New Jersey), Chris Armas (Chicago), DaMarcus Beasley (Chicago), Bobby Convey (D.C. United), Landon Donovan (San Jose), Eddie Gaven (New York/New Jersey), Brian Mullan (San Jose), Kerry Zavagnin (Kansas City), Brian Ching (San Jose), Brian McBride (Fulham), Josh Wolff (Kansas City).

Poland:
Artur Boruc - Paweł Kaczorowski, Rafał Lasocki, Jarosław Bieniuk, Michał Stasiak - Łukasz Madej, Tomasz Jarzębowski, Patryk Rachwał, Sebastian Mila, Michał Goliński, Wahan Geworgian - Ireneusz Jelen

Default usa v poland

good post for sure.

got USA on victor chandler at 1.75 yesterday, its come into 1.66 now.

USA have a good recent record of putting away sides at friendlies, particularly sides outside what most of us would consider a top 10 side.with a 2nd or 3rd strength polish side, i can see this continuing.

Still 0-0 according to Marek's link...but earlier i had assumed the match had been abandoned, because thats what ESPN are reporting soccernet.espn.go.com/mat...81&cc=5739
