A couple of important members?President of the club? What are you talking about?

This has nothing to do with the national team!

They've all left the club a few years ago, Cvetkovic even earlier than Dzajic, though Dzajic was expected to take some job in the national team, but that was just recently, a few days ago, so nothing important!

During Dzajic's era, Red Star have made a number of big transfers and the player you're talking about is Goran Drulic whose move to Zaragoza(the biggest transfer in their history) was worth of 27 millions! However, it was only one mentioned transfer. There are much more...

http://www.b92.net/sport/fudbal/vest...&nav_id=283622

As for the national team, Dejan Stankovic(Inter Milan) got injured at the weekend during Serie A match. He was forced to withdraw from the squad, so he's already back to Italy!

Branislav Ivanovic(Chelsea) seems to be struggling to overcome some injury as well, so he's definitely out(and already back to England from what I heard)!

Coach Miroslav Djukic has clearly said yesterday that he desperately wants to win this one!

I can only try to guess the starting lineup as you just never know with Djukic, especially after he left a number of (already mentioned above) players out of the squad...

I think Drago will join Vidic in the heart of defense, probably with D.Tosic on the left side, while Kuzmanovic should take the role of injured Stankovic!Radisa Ilic is almost certain to start in goal!Maybe 19-year-old Heerenveen winger Sulejmani could get a chance in the starting lineup, instead of Krasic(the Russian championship is over long time ago, so no match practice)!

Serbia: Radisa Ilic(OFK Belgrade) - Antonio Rukavina(Borussia Dortmund), Nemanja Vidic(Manchester United), Ivica Dragutinovic(FC Sevilla), Dusko Tosic(Werder Bremen) - Smiljanic(Espanyol), Kovacevic(RC Lens) - Jankovic(Palermo), Kuzmanovic(Fiorentina), Sulejmani(Heerenveen) or Krasic(CSKA Moscow) - Zigic(Valencia)

Capello takes charge of his first game as coach of the English national football team, a first step that long suffering England fans will hope leads to glory at the World Cup in 2010.

That goal is a long way over the horizon, with qualification not beginning until September, so this game serves as a chance for Capello get to grips with his players, while for opponents Switzerland it is an important warm-up for Euro 2008.

As co-hosts the Swiss avoided the rigours of qualification, but will lack the sharpness that truly competitive games provide, and in this particular circumstance will encounter an intense atmosphere at a packed Wembley Stadium welcoming its new messiah.

One player the Swiss definitely won’t face is David Beckham, who has been denied his 100th cap due to a lack of match fitness. Becks was omitted from Capello’s 23 man squad, which included few other surprises. Capello is without Chelsea duo of Frank Lampard and John Terry, so will have to pass the captain’s armband on to Gerrard.

Switzerland coach, coach Jakob Kuhn is without the services of experienced strikers, Marco Streller and Alexander Frei, blooding 19 year old Eren Derdiyok, who has only played at under-21 level. The Swiss are 21.89 outsiders and would be much longer were it not for home support and kind draw.
The teams were drawn together in the group stages of Euro 2004 when England were easy 3-0 winners, and the last time Switzerland won this fixture was in 1947.

Finland with quite a good team in here or should I said good as it is possible and I quess there will be many changes this evening.

FINLAND with new coach Stuart Baxter:

1 Peter Enckelman
5 Markus Halsti
6 Mika Väyrynen
9 Mikael Forssell
10 Jari Litmanen
13 Juha Pasoja
18 Ari Nyman
19 Toni Kallio
20 Alexei Eremenko jr
21 Jonatan Johansson
23 Markus Heikkinen

On the bench:

12 Henri Sillanpää
22 Jani Viander
2 Toni Järvinen
3 Tuomo Könönen
7 Kari Arkivuo
11 Roni Porokara
15 Heikki Pulkkinen
16 Hannu Patronen
17 Veli Lampi
24 Roman Eremenko

Also have to be known it will be played in Kypros, so Greece is not a home team. Greece is a favourite but odds for Finland and for draw are maybe too high? x 3.50 and Finland to win 6.20 in Finnish Veikkaus.

Hello, I'm new in soccer section, you can find my work more likely in other sports and US sports, but I am surely soccer punter too. Personally I can't agree with massive stakes on England, HCP moreover. There is surely no doubt where the quality lies, but after years of betting we all know that it's not all. England is far from credibility right now(new coach, tactics, moral after qual. disapointment?, motivation for friendly?, etc..). But odds on their win are falling down heavilly and crossed @1,4 actually. There is no value in these odds in current situation IMO. The best thing we can do is to wait and enjoy the game on TV or www.flashscore.com, thus no bet from me. Still, surely good luck to Carl

It remains to be seen how Fabio Capello will approach the game and how the team will set its stall out, and how the players are going to perform for Capello. I think it’ll be a controlled performance with the aim of having the cutting edge to take the opportunities that come England’s way in my opinion, it’s whether the players have got that cutting edge. Switzerland have some injuries will try and counter attack and will use it as preparation for euro 2008. Providing England is able to execute what capello and the fans expect it could be a good night for England.

Last 5 Home England
21.11.2007 ECQ Group E England Croatia 2-3
13.10.2007 ECQ Group E England Estonia 3-0
12.09.2007 ECQ Group E England Russia 3-0
08.09.2007 ECQ Group E England Israel 3-0
22.08.2007 FRL Friendly England Germany 1-2
Last 5 Home Switzerland
20.11.2007 FRL Friendly Switzerland Nigeria 0-1
17.10.2007 FRL Friendly Switzerland USA 0-1
13.10.2007 FRL Friendly Switzerland Austria 3-1
11.09.2007 FRL Friendly Switzerland Japan 3-4
07.09.2007 FRL Friendly Switzerland Chile 2-1
Last 5 Away England
16.11.2007 FRL Friendly Austria England 0-1
17.10.2007 ECQ Group E Russia England 2-1
06.06.2007 ECQ Group E Estonia England 0-3
28.03.2007 ECQ Group E Andorra England 0-3
24.03.2007 ECQ Group E Israel England 0-0
Last 5 Away Switzerland
25.03.2007 FRL Friendly Colombia Switzerland 3-1
23.03.2007 FRL Friendly Jamaica Switzerland 0-2
07.02.2007 FRL Friendly Germany Switzerland 3-1
11.10.2006 FRL Friendly Austria Switzerland 2-1
16.08.2006 FRL Friendly Liechtenstein Switzerland 0-3

Taking into account 15 out of the last 20 games both sides have played home an away have gone over 2.5 and along with Capello being determined to get off to a good start I have gone with Over 2.5 at 2.18.

I agree with christo85efc about Croatia - Netherlands but I will take the home win plus DNB option. I watched Netherlands during the qualifications and I was not too impressed. Now that they have many missing players, it will be even harder for them. Croatia on the hand is a very good team, they look motivated, no problems with missing players and the only negative fact is their lack of wins at the stadium in Split. True, they don't win many but their last match at this stadium was a draw against Brasil which is impressive enough.
The straight home win is a bit too risky for me because in the qualifications Netherlands seemed comfortable when having to sit back, defend and hit on quick counters - so the draw is likely as well. confidence is 7/10

Hi all,
Can anyone give me their views on Eire v Brazil. The Brazilians are evens ( bet365 ) against a poor, out of sorts, nothing to play for , managerless Irish team....
I know the Brazilians have a younger squad out but these are fighting for places for the 2010 world cup.

Its more the Olympics that this squad has been picked for. Brazil take this competition very seriously, and they are DESPERATE to win it, as its the one major trophy they've never got. I'm very tempted by this.

If this was the full strength Brazil I'd leave it well alone, as they'd probably just go through the motions, but as it is I think at evens its a very interesting bet.

Don't normally bet on friendlies but felt with tonight being Capello's first game in charge it is worth getting involved. The Italian is renowned for his discipline and the first thing he will make sure is that England are solid defensively, like he did with Real Madrid, transforming them from Galacticos to work-horses.

He'll be desperate to get off to a winning start. The 1.40 on offer for a win is crappy so I like the look of England to win to nil @ 2.20 or England to keep a clean sheet at 1.83, both on bet365. Capello will have the defence well drilled and with Streller and Frei missing for Switzerland their attacking threat is handicapped.

Small stakes as their is always the chance of a freak goal/dodgy penalty.

England to win to nil @2.20

I wouldnt go lumping into brazil if i were you.... last time we drew nil nil with them in a pretty entertaining match. Its just we do have a pretty good record of getting results against big sides at home, and with this going to be a near full croke park (atmosphere is unreal) Id say ireland could give them a go. I doubt brazil will be too bothered about the outcome of this match....

England v Switz

A whole new ball game for England now and with a manager that can finally make them play the way they should have beeen playing for the last 2o years. I know its only a friendly but this wont be your average 11 different players each half Sven type game. Capello will not tolerate that rubbish and will be all out for an impressive win to get the fans behind him. The Swiss look decidely poor and are not the same team that England beat in the Euros. Expect Gerrard to have the freedom of the pitch tonight. England can and should win this well. If they dont then, it fair to say that heads will roll...

England -1.5 Paddy Power @ 2.36

Ireland v Brazil

This could be an interesting game with Ireland not fancied by the looks of it. However, We gave Brazil a decent match the last time we played them and we do tend to save or best performances for the bigger teams. No Kaka for Brazil means no world class creativity and this looks liked a jaded Brazil side from the pics Im seeing today. While Ireland have yet to appoint a new manager, rumour is rife that its already sorted out but for one or two small points and the players will be keen to impress. Betfred stand out with a 5.0 quote on Ireland and thats a decent price in a meaningless friendly for Brazil.

Ireland @ 5.0 Betfred
