Default England U21s vs Romania 21st August

Pearce has got a strong side heading into tonights friendly against Romania.

Notably Theo Walcott returns following the injury that kept him out of the summer tournament in Holland and he is expected to start, probably alongside Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Probably the best prospect at the moment is Newcastle's James Milner, who was very impressive last weekend. Villa had to double up to shut him down in the second half.

Although this is a friendly Pearce wants nothing less than a convincing win. Following the disappointment of the penalty shootout that sent them home from Holland early, expectation is very high for the next international cup in two years time and they have six UEFA Championship qualifiers following this match.

The price is 1/2 on William Hill for a home win, not great, but the double result is 6/5 and given the strength of the side it could be worth a punt.

Kick off is 19:45 from Bristol City's Ashton Gate.

Best of luck to everyone.

2 QPR players in the squad. Well, one is chelsea but he has played more games on loan for us so i am saying he's ours for now! Mancienne is his name, excellent prospect already captained under 18 for England & will hopefully get a game.

Dexter Blackstock will make the bench & hopefully get a run out as he deserves to be looked at. Destined for better things i am sure & was with Walcott at Soton although 2 years older.

There's not much on the Romanian side for tonights match.

Tried their official website but couldn't really translate it.

However I did find the following statements.

"Romania have done well and drew against France and beat Malta.
It's going to be tough but our players have to say 'I need to enhance my reputation here with this manager'." (Stuart Pearce quoted on BBC Football)

"Romania coach Emil Sandoi will be hoping his team can continue their recent run of good form, which sees them currently topping their qualification group for the 2009 Under 21 European Championship after two games" (From SkySports.com)

Psycho wants a result tonight, that much is obvious.

Big time!

I'm taking England and Cambridge Utd in a cheeky bit of doubles action.

I reckon you boys will win tomorrow.

Turkey can be tough to break down but you should do it.

Are you having anything on it?

I've not seen anything either but you do have a much more solid team overall.

I can't see Turkey beating you.

Another sub-par England perfomance.

Doubly disappointing given how well we started.

Should have brought Milner on earlier.

Bollocks.

Actually our goalkeeper Tartarusanu was simply great ! Should have been 3-1 but this guy was too stubborn

He was great.

Made a couple of really world class saves.

Who does he play for?

Gloria Bistrita. But just now seems to be the 1st choice in keeping at this team.
