I was very suprised at Peru not winning, but even more suprised I made it to work:sleeping I am going to go for Argentina/Paraguay/Brazil treble Argentina are still a good side and should win, Paraguay are playing one of the worst sides in the tournament in Costa Rica and Brazil still have a strong side and with Adriano have one of the best players in the competition.

Mexico have to be the bet for tonight They are a team who have prepared well for this tourny, which is always important i feel. The domestic season finished nearly a month ago, and virtually all the players of Mexico play at home, so no claims of tiredness you would have thought. There is also the fundamental reason behind this bet, man for man Mexico are surely a better side than Uruguay you would have to say. Added to that, the Urugayan's have not taken their full first choice squad, and may well have their minds more on making up the lost ground in the WC qualifiers. The Argentinian coach of Mexico seems to have them well organised, and well prepared, so expect a good start here. I have seen tipsters i respect who actually go for the Mexicans to win the whole thing, and they are certainly not here to make up the numbers, so i don't see why they can't get off to a good start. You can get Mexico to win, at around 2.10-2.20 at most places ![]()

Mexico have Borgetti and Arellano that are top drawer but I dont see why they should be outright favourites for this game tonight. Uruguay are the value for me good luck though pompeypunt ![]() | |

Decent value with uruguay here imo against the oldest squad in the tournament. (They're without Blanco as well.) I'm on them and don't think Mexico are any great shakes. A few random thoughts .... (Not finalised bets yet.) Over 2 goals @2.25 - Mexico expected to go with 3 attackers by accounts. It's a while back; but Uruguay's (3-3 i think it was) game with Brazil showed that they aren't afraid to go all-out if behind. Also, they've been shipping goals recently. Montero back after a 2 year absence might tighten them up defensively but he's always likely to give away dangerous free kicks and pens. Was going to look at bookings here due to Montero being back, the general pattern of South American games and Uruguay's new coach stating that one of the reasons for poor results was a lack of yellow cards! Can't find prices that appeal though. First Scorers tonight: Forlan @ 8.00 b365. Agree with Matt here - the guy has been top class every time I've seen him play for his country. Tevez (Argentina) @ 8.00 b365. Good price for an excellent player imo.Matt, Tosh? You've got 10 mins to talk me out of these before I go for 'em. 0] edit: went for the above - 1 point each.

Many South American teams believe Mexico should not be aloud to enter the competition and as they are not really a south amercan country really. This angers and motivates Mexico to kick bum. Mexico play some decent footy and this Uruaguay team without Chevanton and Recoba and it's awful defence.I think the TEAM effort will be a massive plus for Mexico tonight. 2.16 has to be good value.Should be about 1.70 IMO. Good luck ![]()

Haven't taken much interest in the opening games of Copa America, but thought it's high time I took abit of interest in this stuff after the Greek tragedy. Costa Rica - Paraguay : Much has been made about the second-string side Paraguay have selected for this tournament, but guess Paraguay should still have too much for Costa Rica even with the side they're fielding. Costa Rica, along with Mexico, are the only non-CONMEBOL sides contesting in the Copa and quite clearly, the South Americans aren't too receptive to them taking part in the competition. Just as Uruguay did today, I'd expect Paraguay to raise their game against their North American counterparts as they bid to get their Copa campaign off to a good start. And they should have sufficient quality to do just that though being the traditional slow starters and the bit of inexperience in their side, I'd be more conservative and opt for Draw/Paraguay. 5pts : Draw/Paraguay @ 5.00(Gamebookers) Brazil - Chile : Perreira has made it as lucid as humanly possible that he's not one bit interested in this tournament and is far more concerned with Brazil's WC Qualifying campaign. The squad he has picked clearly supports that stand of his. Still, with the likes of Klerberson(though he seems likely to sit out the Chile game through injury), Edu, Adriano and Fabiano, they've still got a few players who have established themselves in the premier club sides in Europe and a couple of players with good potential for the future. However, while I don't expect them to lose their opening game, I'd be hard pressed to imagine them picking up 3 points here as their inexperience could work against them - and as we all know, every team that plays the reigning world champs would raise their game on the day. If Brazil couldn't beat Chile in the WC qualifiers(however controversial the Chile penalty may be ), I wouldn't expect them to beat them with a weaker side on neutral venue. Would have a little wager on Brazil/Draw for this one...5pts : Brazil/Draw @ 17.00(Ladbrokes)
