Ghana straight win @ 2.0 Bluesquare 3/10

None of these 2 teams have actually impressed me too much during this competition so far, but I think one feels that Ghana should have the edge here. With home advantage being so important they have used the backing of the crowd to see them through important games and they looked alright to me against Morocco. They still lack a striker who can get goals, but I feel they have enough threat, especially in midfield. Nigeria have for me been the biggest flops of this CAN so far and I cant see how they can win it. Id say they are very lucky to be in the quarter finals because they have been far form their best. The team hasn’t gelled properly and clearly coach Bertie Vogts is under a lot of pressure. I don’t think that many goals will be scored in this game and that Ghana will win by something like a 1-0 or 2-0 scoreline. The hosts should have just enough strength to see them over the finishing line.

Ivory Coast -1AH @ 1.70 Pinnacle 7/10

This is the team that has looked the best in the tournament so far and I think they should be able to have a fairly easy ride today. Guinea didn’t really impress too much in their group, the big win being against Morocco, but that was really close. Of course the key man is Pascal Feindouno but he’s suspended for this clash. Without him they will lack a major weapon and his skill might’ve given them some sort of chance today. The Ivory Coast are a quality side and have been convincing in all of their games so far. Its difficult to see Guinea being difficult opponents for them. Even if they were to run up against a solid formation, the Ivories have some many attacking options that they would surely break through eventuality. This is the CAN, where tight wins have traditionally happened so the best line to take is the -1, but in all reality I can see this game ending something like 2-0 or 3-0.

I will check odds ''to qualify'' first, then wait for more opinions. Quarter finals, stakes are massive and despite the class difference especially with Ivory Coast I have seen bigger surprises happening... Overtime is possible outcome with Ghana?

Agree with the Ivory Coast pick, epsecially as Guinea are without Feindouno who looked like the only one able to set up chances and score.

The Ghana v Nigeria match smells of a draw - Nigeria have been poor, but Ghana haven't been much better so far. Surely looks like a low scoring affair with max. one goal (or two) and a draw at the end of regulation can bring dividends.

4pts Ivory Coast -1.25AH vs Guinea 1.85 Partybets

Ivory Coast have looked the best side in the tournament IMO. Their group was meant to be the group of death yet they came through it with 3 wins, 2 of them very comfortable wins. Guinea struggled in a wide open group coming through with only 1 win from their 3 matches and look like struggling further in this match with their captain and playmaker Pascal Feindouno out suspended and key defender Bobo Balde injured. Ivory Coast will be without Kolo Toure but they look to be at full strength apart from that and I see them winning this fairly comfortably.

Ivory Coast v Guinea - 3rd January 2008 GMT 20:30

Guinea will field a weakened team against tournament favourites Ivory Coast, as stand-in captain Bobo Balde is doubtful after a thigh injury.

Inspirational midfielder Pascal Feindouno, who usually captains the side, is suspended and misses the game.
Ivory Coast rested several regular players in their 3-0 defeat of Mali in their final group game. The Elephants, led by Didier Drogba, have been the most impressive side at the tournament so far.

(Source: BBC Sport Website)

This looks a fairly simple task for Ivory Coast - Guinea without their best midfielder and defender!

I can't get past the handicap as I feel Ivory Coast are by far and away the best team in this tournament and with their opponents light on their 2 best players Ivory Coast could score quite a few past them!

Ivory Coast -2 HCP @ 3.75

D Drogba 1st Goalscorer @ 4.33

D Drogba Anytime Goalscorer @ 1.93

Correct score Ivory Coast 4 v 0 @ 15.00

Scorecast Drogba 1st Goal & 4 v 0 @ 41.00

Good call on Ghana, Steve Looked like a stalemate, especially as the Nigerians were waiting for the extra time, but Ghana did it even with a man down.

I've backed Ivory Coast -1 and i've backed it big! 10/11, i urge everybody to cash in on it.

Guinea without there skipper due to suspension, and there best and only defender Balde is doubtful. So even if he does play he wont be 100% fully fit.

Get on

Welcome to PL, mate. Have to say I'm a bit confused whether you recommend Cameroon (1st post) or Tunisia (2nd post). Also, why do you think the Tunisian squad is bad. Cameroon looks good enough, but Tunisia may well hold out for a draw and OT/penalties...

angola be the impressive team now but they could be without duo midfield andre and gilberto are both struggling injuries (andre could be in lines up but not 100% ) meanwhile on the other side Champions Egypt will be at full strength they face Angola in the African Nations Cup quarter-finals in Kumasi on Monday.
Egypt coach Hassan Shehata has the luxury of selection options now that midfielder Mohamed Aboutrika has returned to full fitness and will be confident for angola
It is however, in defence that Egypt will need to be at their best in order to contain the potent Angolan attack.
Hamburg striker M.Zidane expected to start after being rested , i think this will be very tough game for angola

Egypt -0.5 AH

Cameroon -0.25 AH @ 1.81 Pinnacle 6/10

Well I honestly believe Cameroon are 2nd favourites to win this CAN now behind the Ivory Coast. If they can win this match then I don’t see any reason why they cant get past Ghana and into the final. Cameroon were awful in their first 45 minuets of the tournament against Egypt but have since been excellent and should be too strong for Tunisia. Group D was a bit of a poor group IMO and none of the teams really impressed me in it. Tunisia were 2nd best against Senegal and were perhaps even fortunate to beat South Africa. The Angola match cant even be considered much because both teams just played ugly to get the draw. I’ve seen enough holes in their defence which Cameroon should exploit. The likes of Samuel Eto’o should be able to hit the net a few times. The Tunisia attack force hasn’t really impressive me much. They have some decent moments of skill and pace but not enough substantially. I honestly think there is quite a bit of difference between these 2 teams and Cameroon should end up getting the win. Just in case the match is tighter than expected, its probably best to play the -0.25 AH line, but I think bookies have them overpriced here.

As for Egypt - Angola

I actually fancy a draw in this one. Egypt now need to show the form they did against Cameroon, since then they haven't been good enough. Angola I still don't rate much, but luck seems to be with them in this tournament. There's always a surprise somewhere and this could be it IMO. But still I dont have the balls to back them because technically Egypt are better. Angola also had problem sagainst SA and Tunisia, both of whom had some decent skill and pace. Egypt are similar (and better) so maybe they will struggle again?

Everyone seems to know that egypt and cameroon are going to win tonight. whenever that happens i usually stay away from betting.

So i advice to go for TO QUALIFY bets on both. Maybe a MONDAY DOUBLE so as to get better odds.

I hope both games get decided in ET, so i can sit and grin.

GOOD LUCK.
