you love a good debate don't you meaty...

IFK would be the more solid side but Elfsborg do have the Borås Arena a decent stadium but artificial surface so some teams are not as comfortable there..

Key striker Hasse Berggren has of course departed to Häcken but Elfsborg have brought in some new blood like Stefan Ishizaki from Valerenga Oslo.

On face value the bet looks a gift but untill IFK show more in front of goal i would worry....

I hope you enjoy the game and good luck to your team for the season, i will not be there of course but will be cheering DIF on later in the season as they work towards 2006 title

Of course we need that input here... Not many here have the opportunity to see Swedish football on TV and certainly not Live!! Your analysis of the teams you know best will always be welcome here at PL petkar66..

SelectionHelsingborgs IF
Strength6/10

Bookmaker/PriceBet365 @ 1.70 (Back)
ReasoningVery rare Helsingborgs lose so many goals but in history their strength is much greater at home and although their squad is still not as strong as last season with Atiba Hutchinson & Peter Graulund gone they still have plenty of good play, McDonald Mariga has potential in the centre of the field and the defence is normally very solid with Andreas Granqvist & Andreas Jakobsson. Also Olivier Karekezi is always danger going forward however they will expect more from Tarmo Neemelo the new forward as until Henrik Larsson arrives they are looking a little shy of forwards IMO.

Half stakes on home win.

Helsingborg won 1-0

Tomorrow (today) it is 2 games @ 15.00. Gefle IF - Kalmar FF and BK Häcken - Halmstads BK.

Gefle IF - Kalmar FF. Kalmar is the tallest team in the league and is very good in the air. Patrik "Bagarn" Rosengren is the most important player in the defense. He is very good in the air and is very good at positioning though he is not very quick but compensate that with his good ability to always be in a great position. I think Kalmar has a exciting team this year. They were very good and conceded very few goals last year. They wanted to improve the offense and have replaced an brazilian (Dede) with an another brazilian who looks very exciting. Dede was good but meanwhile he was lazy. Gefle will play a traditional 4-4-2 and Kalmar will play 4-2-3-1 with the new brazilian up front. Behind the attacker they have 2 another brazilians that are very good. Cesar Santin is very quick and will cause a lot of problems for the Gefledefense. My bet in this game is a Kalmarvictory and it seems like Kalmar having a little ease for Gefle the past years.

2005-09-25 Allsvenskan
Gefle IF-Kalmar FF 1-2
2005-04-10 Allsvenskan
Kalmar FF-Gefle IF 1-0
2003-10-05 Superettan
Kalmar FF-Gefle IF 4-1
2003-06-09 Superettan
Gefle IF-Kalmar FF 3-4

I think Kalmar will take a comfortable victory here with 1- or 2-0. I take 2.65 @ nordicbet.

BK Häcken - Halmstads BK.

This will IMO be a close call. First we can look at the results from last year.

2005-09-11 Allsvenskan
BK Häcken-Halmstads BK 0-1
2005-06-15 Allsvenskan
Halmstads BK-BK Häcken 1-0

2 goals on 2 games. Häcken has a very good defensive leaders in Lucic and Dixon. Lucic have been playing in the national team for a several years now and maybe is the best defender in the Allsvenskan.

This game will be played @ Ullevi and I dont know if the grass is good or not. Pretty unsure about that at this moment but I dont think it will be great condition for great football. Häcken will play as Gefle. A traditional 4-4-2 and Halmstad will play a defensive 4-5-1 with Gunnar Thorvaldsson up front. I think Gunnar is a great footballplayer but I dont think he can handle both Dixon and Lucic so this will be a very tight game. My bet in this game will therefore be Under 2.5 1.85 @ bet365.

Good luck everybody

Nice stuff Rigoletto

yeh firstly well done Galea on the Helsingborgs pick. I was considering them but chickened out

I agree with you and today I fancy Kalmar and will probably back them on the level ball AH.
I also like you thinking on the under 2.5 @ Hacken, I might leave this match alone but I'm thinking Halmstad might just get a result here

good luck

Gefle v Kalmar
I expect an away win here and Kalmar can claim victory in their opening match of the season. Last week Gefle annoyed many by drawing 2-2 away at AIK but they will probably have a struggling campaign. Last year they had the 2nd worst home record and I f that is repeated then I doubt they will stay up. Kalmar were 3rd best on the road last season and they should be able to nick a tight win here IMO. 2-1 it was last year and I’d certainly accept that again. The best bet though is probably the level ball AH as a draw is always going to be a danger.

Bet
Kalmar (0) AH 1.80 Pointbet 5/10

Hacken v Halmstad
Well initially I was thinking no bet for this game but I cant resist a small punt. This match is expected to be pretty tight and under 2.5 goals looks good but I’m hoping Halmstad might be able to get a result. Hacken are favourites and rightly so but the visitors will fight and are well capable of claiming some points. We have yet to have an away win in Sweden so far so maybe Halmstad might be able to repeat the 1-0 away success they had here last season. My bet will be small stakes on them @ +0.25

Bet
Halmstad +0.25 AH 2.21 Betdaq 3/10

Gefle-Kalmar

Kalmar is missing two very important key player Joachim Lantz and Lasse Johansson because of injuries.

My views today..

Gefle must be thrilled to able to steal a point away against AIK in the first game. However, I feel that KFF will be too much for them today. I also hope that Lantz and Johansson wont be a big loss for them today.

I think that Kalmar is a great outsider this year. The discussion have been concentrated to Djurgården and Gothenburg and a team like Kalmar must like this. They are strong on many positions and all you really need to do is look at the results from Royal league to know that these guys are good. Their defensive is impressive and I would like to second Rigolettos thoughts on the scoreline here, 1-0 or 2-0 Kalmar.

I will follow meaty´s choice on the AH 0 here.. I got 1.77 with gamebookers.

Häcken-Halmstad is wide-open really. Häcken are favourites and rightly so after 1-1 away against Malmö. The reason why its still open is that we cant guess were Halmstad stands since its their first game. My personal feeling is that they wont be among the better teams this year since they lost their striker and I dont know if they have a good replacement on that position.

Häcken slight favourite but might well end in a boring, lowscoring draw.

Well I'll take the Kalmar draw considering they were 2-0 down.
0-0 @ Hacken was good results as well and well done to those who were on the unders there

Orgryte v Malmo
Well we have yet to have an away win in Sweden so far and it could well come here IMO. Orgryte lost against Gais in their opening game whilst Malmo were held 1-1 against Hacken. Although from most account they were fairly impressive and should have won. For this match striker Niklas Skoog is injured and this is an important loss. Bur Orgryte also miss their top offensive man Ailton. I doubt we will get a goal fest here somehow but I’m hoping Malmo can get themselves a victory. The only question is what type to bet. I could go for the straight win @ 1.92 but I don’t want to risk much on the stake so I’ll chance my arm with them on the -0.75 handicap.

Bet
Malmo -0.75 AH 2.35 Betdaq 4/10

Elfsborg v IFK Goteborg
Well initially I fancied the home win here but excellent odds on the away team have forced me to go for IFK. I just don’t think a team like them should be priced as they are. Last season they were very impressive on the road losing just twice and winning 50% of their games. No team was better than them away from home in 2005 and one of their wins was 2-0 here at Elfsborg. Now the home team can’t be underestimated but they didn’t play last week so might not be up to full pace yet. IFK drew disappointingly 0-0 against Osters but I think they can hit back here. No need to stake heavily but the level ball AH @ 2.40 is definitely worth small stakes IMO.

Bet
IFK (0) AH 2.40 Betdaq 3/10

Osters v AIK
AIK could only draw last weekend against Gefle but I think they have a chance here at Osters. The home team shocked many last week as they drew 0-0 away at IFK but this promises to be a hard season for them. AIK should be able to at least draw here and they do have a good H2H record against Osters. We have yet to have an away win this year so some must surely come today. This could be an ideal location for one and I go a few stakes on AIK level ball.

Bet
AIK (0) AH 2.03 Betdaq 4/10

Djurgarden v Hammarby
The big Stockholm derby and Djurgarden’s first match of the season. They will want to get off to a winning start and I think they should be able to see off Hammarby. The so called ‘visitors’ beat Helsingborgs last week in a 4-2 thriller so confidence will be high. Last season they claimed 4 points against Djurgarden but in general they have struggled against their rival in recent seasons. I just think you have to favour the champions in this encounter and I will give them a go on the -0.25 AH. It is early in the season so cover must be taken wherever possible

Bet
Djurgarden -0.25 AH 1.92 Pointbet 5/10
