Just the 2nd round and already a Stockholm derby between Djurgarden and Hammarby

Home win for DIF 9/10, stronger side in all areas, new Hammarby strike force looks good but overall team made look to look much better by 4-2 result than some of the play suggests, Helsingborgs maybe asleep for first half?!!?

Pre-season was hard for DIF with Arneng on leave for birth of child and Sjölund injured not too mention losing regular defenders and gaining young Brasilian startlet.

Team should be Tourray, Concha, Kuivasto, Johannesson, Stoltz, Arneng, Barsom, Sjölund, Jonson, Quirino & Hysén.

Örgryte IS - Malmö FF

From reports I know that Malmö played very decent football against Häcken and were "all over them" at some points in the game. They got a really bad start when Lucic scored in the 7th minute. They then came back to draw the game 1-1.

Örgryte got a bad start aswell losing to GAIS 0-2. Their striker Ailton Almeida was injured in the game and wont play here. I think ÖIS will have some serious difficulty scoring in this game because of that set-back.

I will look for a price for Malmö above 1.90!

Any thoughts guys?

elsewhere...

Rare for HIF to concede like that, solid defenders and some skills in midfield I expect Helsingborgs @1.70 to beat GAIS without Larsson. Not the best game for new forward Neemelo though...

Small stakes on AIK Solna Stockholm to take at least a point v Östers, too risk on straight win but AIk have the skills I think, they won 1-2 last year for this fixture.

Häcken can upset Halmstads i think and 2.15 is ok for home win with Halmstads not up to match pace.

Malmö FF will not be happy about the draw, second period they woke up and played well, many chances to win so although i will be checking team news first this away bet at 1.85 looks ok..

Here are just a few thoughts of mine about the 2nd round of matches

Helsingborgs v Gais - - hhhhmmm I’m not so sure about this match. Gais surprised by winning their first game whilst Helsingborgs lost to Hammarby. Bookies have the home team @ 1.70 at the moment and I have a feeling that this may be a bit short. Having said that Helsingborgs were 2nd best home team last year winningg 9/13. May end up being a no bet match though IMO.

Hacken v Halmstad - Hacken grafted hard against Malmo to earn a point last week and they will look for points again. Halmstads not in action in round 1 so they start with an away game. Lat year they had the 2nd worst away record but ironically one of their few success was here at Hacken where they won 1-0. Another tough on IMO although preference has to go to the home team maybe.

Gefle v Kalmar - Gefle obtained a 2-2 against AIK last week but they are mostly expected to struggle this year. Kalmar weren’t in action and they will want to get off to a solid start here. This match is a potential draw but Id probably give preference to the away side who were good on their travels last season. Its interesting to note that Kalmar have won on their last 3 visits to Gefle so maybe they can make it 4/4. Gefle were 2nd worst home team last season so maybe a bit of Kalmar value here.

Orgryte v Malmo - Away win IMO. Orgryte lost to Gais last week whilst I hear that Malmo should have beaten Hacken. They will want to hit back with a win here and have a good record in Orgrte. Last season they were held to a 1-1 draw but haven’t suffered defeat here in the 21st century. Think I will probably bet Malmo in this one.

Osters v AIK - both teams obtained points last week on their returns to Allsvenskan. Here though I think AIK may be worth a punt. Last season they won this match 2-1 and they have a good record away at Ostres in the past. This could be a tight affair which maybe AIK could nick.

Elfsborg v IFK - Last season IFK won this fixture 2-0 but prior to that they suffered 5 consecutive defeats away at Elfsborg. The home team weren’t’ in action last weekend and it will be interesting to see how they start their campaign. I think bookies have probably got this about right at the moment with Elfsborg slight favourites. Id only bet on them though if the level ball AH was at the right price.

Djurgarden v Hammarby - so then the Stockholm derby and Djurgardens first match of the season. Hammarby did get off to a good start last week but I think preference has to go to the champions in this one. I’m surprised that you can get over 2.20 odds on them to be honest and they have to be snapped up IMO. Historically Djurgardens have dominated this derby winning 8 of the last 12. Last season they were held 2-2 in one of the fixtures but I reckon they can beat Hammarby here. Over 2.5 goals is also likely as there is a history of goals

Djurgårdens IF -0.25 (1.94) @ Pointbet

-0.25 looks like huge value here in this one in this derby game. I thin getting in early is a good idea also, as i think Djurgårdens are going to be a popular pick this round. I really expected around evens for the straight home win when i was looking at this, so to get near on that for a -0.25 looks like great value for the punter. Hopefully the bookies have just got this one wrong, rather than their feel that the home side are not as strong at last season. 5/10 for the home win. Good luck.

Last season Djurgårdens played horrible in the derby v Hammarby, i do believe they will not make the same mistakes again but worth considering the derby danger when placing bets, PompeyPunt's 5 units is probably more sensiblwe than my 9/10 stakes..

This sounds like a strong bet on u2.5 IMO. Häcken has a good defense and the grass on Ullevi should be pretty bad to this game too. My first thought when I saw this round was u2.5 on this game. I will check it up and return later

Both teams are from Stockholm, so the game is on neutral ground Råsunda. Djurgården is still a big favourite, but the home advantage is minimal.

Not entirely true, I think DIF have a good advantage, Hammarby play at Söderstadion for all matches where as DIF always play their derby fixture at Råsunda, in fact Råsunda was their home ground all of 04/05 season and is used for major matches in any season (v IFK or HIF).

Derby games can always be hard to call but DIF have the quality and the location advatange IMO, also despite this being their first game for the season they are well up to match fitness with Royal league run and a strong pre season schedule, they won 0-4 on Tuesday night as they prepare for this match (v Hafnarfjördur).

I think the game will be loud and fast, usually goals and hopefully a home win!

Last year was the first year Hammarby played their derby games at Söderstadion, before that they played at least 2 games every year at Råsunda. In this game there are no home field advantage in my opinion.

2 games is not the same as every home game , and how long they played the derby at Söderstadion is not all that relevant IMO...

DIF played the entire season there and will play as they always have at least 3 games a season there, i do not think 2 games 2 years ago makes this any benefit or advantage for Hammarby but you are entitled to your thought of course...

DIF v Hammarby at Råsunda P5 W4 D1 L0
DIF 04/05 at Råsunda P13 W8 D2 L3

DIF took a while to get used to playing there I think but by the end of the season their form was excellent, ending with 4 victories in a row over Trelleborgs, Elfsborg, Helsingborgs & Hammarby.

Fact is DIF have played much more football over the lsat few years at Råsunda and playing there is not likely to effect their performance...

It was 2 years ago Djurgården played every homegame at Råsunda and they hated every minute of it.Both team will play an away game where they have played many times before so fans will dictate who will be more comfortable. And everyone know we(Hammarby) has, maybe with AIK,Swedens best fans bar none.
Of course Djurgården should be favourites as champions but not because of an home field advantage that do not exist.
I will be there and make Hammarby players very welcome.

I know what season it was DIF played with Råsunda as the home ground, been said several times and they did not hate every minute at all, what rubbish, it was awkward of course and they welcome a return to OS but by the end their they had settled and form was very good.

I do not believe this is a true away game, you do, end of story and this forum is not about who has 'the best fans' it is about analysis of football and making money from that. My fans are better than yours!! very good
