Default Sparta Prague

After appointing a new manager, eager to get things right, the upcoming weekend sees Sparta Prague priced up @ relatively nice odds away @ Brno. The best price is 1.77 now (local book, not many internetional books have priced this one up so far).

Points to consider

Sparta are away

BUT, they've owned Brno big time - last draw in 1999, last loss in 1997. 6 out of L8 H2Hs were narrow wins though.

Sparta, the biggest name in Czech footy, are still one point behind a CLq spot and need each and every point. They are surely nursing hopes of winning the whole thing, but then Ostrava would need to forget how to play footy at all - stranger things have happened, but still...

On the contrary - many eyes will be watching carefully. You might not know, but last weekend, Sparta won against Zizkov in a VERY strange fashion - result 3-1 - first goal from a very clear offside position, the secod goal from a penatly after very clear diving (the defender was not even within touching distance), the third goal from another penalty after "deliberate handball" which was seen by the ref himself and no one else - all this led to a lifetime ban for the linesman and ban till the end of the season for the ref - cruel but the comittee had to be pissed off big time and somebody was to become a scapegoat especially after bribing (considered unproven) incidents earlier in the season.

That said, I guess 1.77 still represents a bit of value, epsecially as Brno are terribly out of form. No help from Brno may be expected though as they are a Moravian side and would like to see Banik to win the title after long-term domination of Prague. Played on Sunday afternoon.

Sorry - wasn't following and 0-0 didn't help anything and anyone. Still, it was really the first game with half-decent odds for Sparta as they are constantly over-rated, although very clearly out of form (the whole season). The manager must be fuming now as both Ostrava and Slavia won their fixtures and nothing but a CL spot is even thinkable for everybody around the team (becoming a dream now, though...)

No edge in NHL of late, I'm afraid.

Slavia and Sparta still teams to follow, odds permitting (I mean no crap 1.1 for a home banker win and stuff). Both teams got classy young coaches of late and are trying to turn it around.
