We have a thread for the German football and I for one find it interesting keeping up to date with the summer changes so here is a thread for the spanish football. Barcelona will look to improve on what already is a world class team (which is scary considering how good they were last season). It could be a big season for Real Madrid also and they look like they mean business. Appointing Villareals Manuel Pellegrinias there new coach. Also, Kaka is finally announced as a Real Madrid player in a world transfer record, the fee £56m.

Villarreal look destined to finish in the bottom-half of the table next season then! Pellegrini was Villarreal - them continuing is like Arsenal without Wenger - it ain't gonna happen. They've got Valverde, who did a great job at Olympiakos, but this is very different. Last edited by Mozzi; 09-06-2009 at 21:58.

| I'd lay the fcuk out of Real at 1.95, their squad is still badly flawed, need to sign some "water carriers" before they'll win anything. Barca are still miles ahead.

Smart business plans. They were in quite a huge debt a few years back but due to marketing, TV rights and sponsorship the the transfers they are paying isn't actually coming from the club itself but rather the money they have either "saved" or have generated through ticket sales and other sources of income. Plus you got to remember they will also be major sellers, I would assume that they are going to sell quite a good chunk of their current squad and that should be able to ease the transfer wages. What's more, now that word is out that Kaka and Ronaldo are in, think about the jersey sales globally.

| I have heared they have a TV-contract which pays them thousand million for 10 years and that they do pay the transfers with this money.. As Mike says add jersey sales and advertisement in that calculation and you finance a lot of that transfer money..

Even if Messi for some inane reason did leave, Madrid aren't going to win the league because they've signed a few big names. They've always been a club of big names. They're simply currently a club with big names and small performances. Their European trophy cabinet has been empty for a long time now and they've won nothing this year at all. They don't give youth a chance, they don't keep managers long enough and there's little cohesion or loyalty in the squad. There's mass work needs doing here and some big names ain't gonna erase that! Good luck to anyone backing Madrid to win the league next year! Last edited by Mozzi; 11-06-2009 at 23:05.

Real Madrid still have to address the defense. They can score but they leak a lot of goals. They have to get rid of Guti and Raul, they are the old timers and if you want change you must get rid of the guys who were part of the downward spiral.

Cannavaro's gone on a free Pepe is absolutely awful and should be banned from football for what he did to get that 6 match ban kicking someone lying on the ground repeatedly! Salgado is away to Quatar Miguel Torres is a very average player and doesn't deserve to be near the first team That leaves Heinze, Metzelder, Marcelo and Ramos! Metzelder is a player i really like but hasn't yet had as big as impact as he can. Ramos has the potential to be a great great defender but has the odd lapse in concentration which leaks goals Heinze is a good tough tackling sold player Marcelo is the Carlos-like substitute always attacking and leaving huge gaps at the back. This defence needs a right back and another very good centre back to have any chance of competing with Barca

Looks like Real Madrid have signed David Villa just waiting on official confirmation. Possible bet for next season, Villa la liga top scorer. I mean with Kaka, Ronaldo and co firing balls into the box the guy will get more chances than he had a Valencia and he knows where the net is.

so when is Madrid going to address their defensive issues? Ridiculous that they have yet to address their key areas. Obvious for them that it's more about a business rather than results.
