Recreativo Huelva-Villareal
Recreativo still trying to avoid relegation and has a 3-2-1 record in their last 6 home games with the only defeat (2-3) coming in the game against Real Madrid.
Villareal is in 2nd place which they will fight to keep (Barcelona is in 3rd 4 points behind) as it gives them direct access to the Champions League while 3rd place has to play the CL qualifying rounds.
Villareal also has a strange 10-0-7 away record in the league with no draws out of 17 games.
I expect a tight game and I'm betting they'll have their 1st away draw of the season.
My pick: draw;

Getafe-Almeria
Simple analysis here.
Getafe has a league 13 over and 22 unders while Almeria has 10 overs and 25 unders in the league.
Last 5 meetings between these teams have gone under the total.
My pick: <2.5;

Good luck!

JC
Almeria is up 0-2 after 11 minutes

Not a good day in Spain today...watched the 1st half of the Villareal game and it was looking good at the half, but ended up losing it.
The Getafe game must be the joke of the season...Getafe scored 4 goals in one game after being 0-2 down...just can't believe it...

Earlier in the season I was counting Espanyol to be one of the best surprises this year, obviously I was wrong. Very good team and Manager, but some injures and surprise poor results vs worse teams resulted in comfortable mid-table position. A miracle is needed to make it to UEFA spots, and I am not sure the club needs it. In any case I expect them to give some hard time to Madrid tonight. No need for them to hide, so I expect an open play from hosts.
Athletic have everything to play for, it has been long way back since they were this close to CL. With Sevilla winning last night a point is not very good for them, so I think they will try to score first and seal the game with counters. Important missings for hosts in midfield should help, but this is exactly the kind of team Espanyol would rise against.
I am leaning towards a heavy bet here, as an early Goal is very possible here, like I said I expect an open game here - a point is no good for either team. So Madrid to win and Over 3 is what I am tempted with. Could possibly make this one safer with ''both teams to score'', just like last night at Bernabeu, still, the odds for this in local are too short, 1,64 atm.
Opinions?

Sevilla will pay to Español. Last rounds of Liga are full this matches. A team play for Europa another play for money. Español supporters aren´t happy with that.

FYI, last three H2Hs saw the scoreline of 2-1 and two before 1-1. L2 Espanyol's matches were 1-1s. L2 Atletico's away matches as well. Hmm

Been a while since I posts an analysed pick here. Finally have some free time to do what I love doing. Hopefully the result is a positive one

Sport Football (Spain)
Event RCD Espanyol vs Atletico De Madrid
Selection RCD Espanyol +0.5 (Asian Handicap)
Strength 8/10
Date 08/05/2008
Bookmaker/Price Betdaq @ 1.86 (Back)
Reasoning Espanyol will be without Tamudo, Hurtado and most importantly De La Pena today. Their attack will be weakened. However, Espanyol is by no mean pushover and they are still fighting for the Intertoto Cup. A win would certainly brighten up their chances to Europe next season.

On the other hand, Atletico have problems of their own kind missing Reyes, Simao and possibly their captain Maxi today. While Atletico is fighting hard for CL spot.

This clash is quite important to some extend, especially for Atletico.

However, I have the feeling Espanyol would get a point or three tonight. Atletico, hasn't been the best traveller of late. The host hasn't win at their own turf for quite sometime. Moreover,I think they will came out very open and motivated today to win this game for the fans and the desire to play in Europe will still be there.

i see over 2.5 being offered at evens. this is very tempting, both teams for the season average over 1 goal for and against, per game. i just don't see either of these teams keeping a clean sheet. 2-1 in last encounter this season, and in that game, Madrid was playing with 9 men for 30minutes

atletico has gone over 2.5 in 9 of last 11 la liga games

Espanyol has gone under 2.5 in 5 straight (before these 5, it was 8 of 11 over)

surely if Getafe/Almeria could combine for 6 goals these two can nick 3, right?

A bit off-topic - I just wonder how far the teams actually fancy taking part in that Mickey Mouse, sorry Intertoto Cup - the subject has been covered in the past and unless the rules (esp. financial) have dramatically changed, the cup is a real burden for most teams - the only way you can earn some money is by selling TV rights, but most of the teams are really not big names and it si often down to the situation when a club wants a packet while TVs are not willing to pay - nobody watches these matches in off-season anyway, bar some crazy punters. Also - it is a huge task to qualify for a proper, UEFA, cup and only the semifinals and finals bring some cash to the club. NO wonder quite a few teams have declined when qualified for this cup - and some spot are given to winners of fair play contest, which has nothing to do with quality. All in all, I just wonder whether the incentive exists and am almost certain it doesn't.

So are mine, a double of home wins in Holland won, so did Madrid in a single. Yet my Over combo is 100% in the drain as neither game went Over. A small loss altogether, it hurts bad though....
