Initial thoughts on Espana this weekend:
Villarreal have started to click following a slow start to the season and Juan Roman Riqueleme demonstrated in the Argentina v England match what a good player he is. Not sure about Forlans fitness as he missed Uruguays loss to the Socceroos. Have to wait nearer the game before commiting but this is the only game that I really fancy.
As for the Real v Barca game, i'll sit back and watch it wth several cans of San Miguel and hopefully watch Barca win against the 'Prima Donas' of Madrid!

I´m confident Barcelona will get at least one point in the game despite the return of Ronaldo and Baptista who i doubt will b match fit. Barcelona is in my opinion the stronger team and Real Madrid have not impressed me so far.

Ref the Real v Barca match.
Barca's record last season against the top sides was far superior than Reals.
They accumulated 35 pts in comparison to Real's 25 pts.
I really do fancy Barca here. Real have struggled of late against average sides and Barca going forward are a treat.

Villarreal v Zaragoza

Villarreal host a Zaragoza side who have struggled with results on the road so far this season, no wins in 5, but have put some good performences in on the road, last time out they played well against Real Madrid, and did get a good result on away at Barcelona with a 2-2 draw. They are sitting low in the table though, and Villarreal have carried on some good form from last season sitting nicely placed in 5th so far. Price of around 1.75 should really be expected here for the home win, so odds of 1.90 on the -0.5 handicap line at bet365 is well received.

Picks

Villarreal -0.5 (1.90) 6/10

You heard right Was. Or at least that's what they said on the evening news today here in Spain - he's struggling slightly with an injury and they prefer to save him for the Champs League in the week. No mention of it yet in Marca, mind you.

Real Madrid v Barcelona

The biggest match of the weekend anywhere in Europe bar Rochdale v Chester is upon us and live onSky on Saturday night. It should be a cracker, no love lost between these 2 great football giants. History dictates that it normally results in a home win. Barca lost here last season 4-2 before claiming the title but won here 2-1 the year before. They're playing some great attacking football of late and this I believe will be the key. Reals defence is always suspect and they will miss Woodgate, Guti & Gravesen from this game. Barca have notched 4 wins on the spin and in the process have scored 13 goals. Real have won their last 2 games but this follows 2 poor losses to Depo away and Valencia at home and they've also lost at home to Celta Vigo already this season. Mark van Bommel will sit this out after injury with the Dutch national squad.
All in all it should be a great occasion with Barca getting the nod.

Barcelona 4/10 @ 2.92 with betfair

If so I'm definately leaving this game well alone especially as Forlans out for a month, captain Quique Alvarez is out for upto 2 months and Guayre is set to leave in Jan due to a lack of oppurtunites.
Doesnt bode well for the Yellow Submarine.

Tend to steer well clear of this fixture. Seville havent lost at home since 96 but key defender veteran Javi Navarro is struggling to make it but on the other hand Betis' Brazilian striker Ricardo Oliveira is out for months following his injured knee suffered in the win over Chelsea. Play it safe and go for a draw!

at first I fancied a 1-0 home win here antonio!
but I don't think sevilla have won a game either before or after a uefa fixture!
though I may be wrong?

add the derby aspect and the previous results in this meeting, three of last four drawn-0-0,1-1,2-2 !
and take into account the low scores in all sevillas home games and I think there's enough doubt to reconsider risking money!

0-0,1-1 sound good again to me

Great game and a fantastic display from Barcelona. Any doubts about which is the best team in Spain is now gone. Real Madrid were humiliated in front of their own fans. Congratulations to any1 who played Barcelona in any way

Attacking football wins well here, easy 3-0 for Barca. Ronaldinho was simply awesome.

Levante v Xerez

The two form teams clash here in La Liga Segunda
If Levante's away form was anything like their home form they would be top...
Solid at home I'll be going for the following

Levante HT/FT 3/1 Ladbrokes
Levante to win 2-0 8/1 Ladbrokes
Levante to win 2-1 8/1 Ladbrokes

Wow, there's another Gills fan somewhere in Madrid, eh?

Marek, going purely off the stats here rather than anything else, what makes you say Espanyol and Mallorca are good overs teams? Only 2 of Espanyol's games this season have been overs (2-1 defeat home to Villarreal and 2-1 win away to Málaga). Mallorca have admittedly had a few high scoring games (3-0 defeat to Villarreal, 4-0 defeat to Real Madrid, 4-1 defeat to Málaga, 5-2 win v Real Sociedad), but most of those seem to be due to them conceding plenty. Will Espanyol be able to take advantage of that when they've only scored 7 goals in 11 games this season, and just 3 at home? Mallorca have only managed 11 goals this season, and just 3 away from home.

Good luck if you're on the overs, but looking at the stats, everything seems to point to unders.
