Default South America 6-7.05.2006

Santos - Fortaleza

*Well Luxemburgo is really magician, when after 3 weeks he and his Santos lead the Brasiliero... Santos side is not so strong as they were in 2004. and 2005. season, but coach Luxemburgo plays smart defensive football, and resoults are there.
For tonights game coach Wanderley Luxemburgo have many wories. Attackers Reinaldo (muscle problems) and De Nigris (ankle injury), also Luiz Alberto (muscle problem), Cléber Santana (suspended) and Fabinho (not 100% fit) are all out of this match for Santos. For the place of Reinaldo, Luxemburgo have many options: he can play Magnum or Wellington Paulista. Rodrigo Tabata will be substitute for Luiz Alberto. Luxemburgo will play his favorite 4-4-2 formation.

*Fortaleza is great home team, but away they are not so great. Coach Márcio Bittencourt have no big problems for this match. They will play in 3-5-2 formation most probably.
These two sides played unders in last 3 matches... H2H:
2005-10-01 23:10 Santos FC 0 0 Fortaleza
2005-06-19 23:10 Fortaleza 0 0 Santos FC
2003-08-30 21:00 Fortaleza 0 0 Santos FC
2003-04-27 21:00 Santos FC 4 0 Fortaleza

*Probable squads:
SANTOS: Fábio Costa; Manzur, Ronaldo e Domingos (Rodrigo Tabata); Neto, Wendel, Maldonado, Léo Lima e Kléber; Geílson (Wellington Paulista) e Magnum (Rodrigo Tiuí)
Técnico: Wanderley Luxemburgo

FORTALEZA: Maizena; Ivan, Alan, Gláuber e Mazinho Lima; Dude (Galeano), Rabicó, Bechara (Glaydstone) e Maurílio (Patrick); Rinaldo e Finazzi
Técnico: Márcio Bittencourt

*Two defensive minded sides, and I think UNDER is good option in this one.

Prediction:
Under 3 @1.70 Ladbrokes 6/10

2-0 bet won

Velez - Lanus

*Combined table in Argentina:
1 Boca Juniors----36 23--8--5 69:31 77
2 Gimnasia LP-----36 19--9--8 53:37 66
3 River Plate------36 16-11--9 67:43 59

---------------------------------------
6 Independiente---36 14-13--9 52:36 55 (thaks to LordLife)
Two contenders for place in Copa Libertadores for next season play tonight against each other. Game will be played at neutral ground becouse Velez stadium is suspended.

*For this game Lanus will play with full squad except Leandro Gioda who is suspended. On the other hand Velez have very important Copa Libertadores 1/4 final game against Chivas in three days, so they will play with their B squad.
Velez normal first 11 looks something like this: SESSA
CUBERO,PELLEGRINO,PELLERANO,BUSTAMANTE
BUSTOS,SOMOZA,BROGGI,GRACIÁN
EREROS,CASTROMÁN

*Probable squads for tonight:
Velez:
Peratta, S.
Ladino, S.
Uglesich, M.
Alcaraz, W.
Soto, C.
Sena, S.
Razzotti, F.
Centurión, E.
Ocampo, R.
Ereros, S.
Fernández Francou, E.

Lanus:
Bossio, C.
Graieb, R.
Hoyos, S.
Romero, M.
Archubi, R.
Aguirre, M.

Excuse my ignorance but what is the 'combined' table that you have?
All the tables I can find have Velez and Lanus having played 16 and 17 games.
Thanx in advance

The penultimate game of this section of the Clausura...
Velez VS Lanus

History favours over 2.5 goals here as you have to go back to 2003 to find a game that went unders.

Velez team news points to an away victory as the team played just three nights ago in a 6-4 aggregate win against Newell's old boys. Reaching the quarters of the CL is some achievement for Velez and understandably their league form has somewhat slipped.

With the first leg of the quarters played away in Mexico in three days, Velez will be fully aware of fitness and saving the majority of the squad. The game has become somewhat meaningless for Velez...

Their home form, although this game is played in a neutral venue, is less than impressive with 2 points from possible 12 in last 4, Lanus however vying for the title have taken 11 from a possible 12 points in their last 4 games!!

Lanus are unbeaten in 4 after thrashing the likes of River Plate, Rosario and San Lorenzo. 11th of March saw the last home win in Clausura for Velez. This speaks for itself and I propose the Asian handicap on Lanus.

Factors of the CL and the form of each team increases the expectancy of an away win here!

Only player who had anything to do with the CL match on Wednesday was Ocampo, who came on as a sub

Corinthians - Sao Paolo

*Many misteryes surrounds this match up. This is great derby of Sao Paolo state, many years these team played great games, but tonight game will be played at Estádio Benedito Teixeira (São José do Rio Preto-SP), becouse Timao stadion is in very bad shape after "3rd half" game bettwen Timao supporters and Brasilian police. This may be good thing for Corinthians side no mather they now play on neutral ground...Why?...We will talk about that little later. History of these match ups is great. S.Paolo had more victories in recent times, and Corinthians sacked their 14 coaches after losses against arch rival...Will Ademar Braga be 15th?
H2H in last 5 years:
2005-10-25 00:30 Sao Paolo 1 1 Corinthians
2005-05-08 21:00 Corinthians 1 5 Sao Paolo
2004-09-19 21:00 Corinthians 0 0 Sao Paolo
2004-05-30 21:00 Sao Paolo 1 1 Corinthians
2003-10-12 21:00 Sao Paolo 3 0 Corinthians
2003-06-15 21:00 Corinthians 1 2 Sao Paolo
2002-09-29 21:00 Sao Paolo 2 2 Corinthians
2001-11-03 19:00 Sao Paolo 1 1 Corinthians

*After 3 weeks, Timao has only 3 points, and 2 losses (against Gremio and P.Preta), while Tricolori have 6 points and they are in better situation on the table. Timao rested players in those two games, but still they are out of Copa Libertadores for this season, after lossing aginst River Plate earlyer this week in that strtange match, and only competition they are still in is Brasiliero. On the other hand Tricolori have very hard away game in 3 gay time. They go to face Chivas de Guadalahara in 1/4 final of Copa Libertadores, and that will be very hard game for them IMHO. But lets talk about news first...

*Sao Paolo coach, Muricy Ramalho, said for local newspapers that this is game like any other for them, and that he doesn't intend to rest any of his key players. Few things must to say from my corner... Game will be played 500 km from intended so S.Paolo players will travel back and forward 1000km today, and again long trip in 3 days time, and coach will play with best 11? I don't buy that...
Only player that is 100% out is Danilo (muscle problems).

*On the other hand Timao MUST play with best 11 this one. They are now in big crissis and only victory can safe coach and players from angry fans. I don't see any injury and suspension troubles for Timao squad.

*Probable squads:
CORINTHIANS: Sílvio Luiz; Coelho, Marcus Vinícius, Betão e Rubens Júnior; Marcelo Mattos, Mascherano, Ricardinho e Carlos Alberto; Nilmar e Tevez.
Técnico: Ademar Braga.

SÃO PAULO: Rogério Ceni; Fabão, Lugano e André Dias; Souza, Mineiro, Josué, Danilo e Júnior; Leandro e Aloísio
Técnico: Muricy Ramalho.

***I will say it once again, I don't buy this story of Tricolori playing with best 11 today, so I will go with my guts on this one...

Prediction:
Corinthians @2.27 Easybets 8/10

1-3 bet lost

Atletico PR - Internacional

*One more game where host play important Copa Libertatores game in few days time. Internacional play agains LDU 10.may, and today they will probably rest some regulars against Furacao.

*Great news for coach of Atletico PR, Givanildo de Oliveira, in this game becouse after injury attacker Dagoberto is back in the team. After artroscopia in left knee Dagoberto aka DaGol is now armed and ready to help his teammates in this match. Coach Oliveira don't have any problems for this one, and he will most probabli play in 4-4-2 formation.

*On the other hand as I said, Internacional play against LDU in 3 days time, and today they will probably rest some regulars. Coach Abel Braga didn't confirmed first 11.

*H2H:
2005-09-18 21:00 Internacional 3 2 Atletico PR
2005-05-22 23:10 Atletico PR 1 3 Internacional
2004-10-31 01:30 Atletico PR 2 1 Internacional
2004-07-17 21:00 Internacional 6 0 Atletico PR
2003-09-25 00:00 Atletico PR 2 1 Internacional
2003-05-18 21:00 Internacional 1 1 Atletico PR
2002-10-20 21:00 Atletico PR 2 3 Internacional
2001-09-20 00:30 Internacional 4 4 Atletico PR

*Probable squads:
ATLÉTICO: Kleber; Jancarlos, Danilo, Paulo André e Ivan (Michel Bastos); Alan Bahia, Erandir (Fabrício), Evandro e Ferreira; Dagoberto e Pedro Oldoni.
Técnico: Givanildo de Oliveira.

INTER: Marcelo; Ceará, Fabiano Eller, Índio e Rubens Cardoso; Edinho, Perdigão, Adriano e Chiquinho; Iarley e Rafael Sóbis.
Técnico: Abel Braga.

*Dagoberto and Pedro Oldoni on the one side, and explosive Rafael Sóbis on other side playing for two attacking sides...I can see over 3 here

Prediction:
Over 2.75 @1.89 Pointbet 6/10

1-2 1/2 bet won

They played with full squad...

In first half Timao was better side, unlucky to lead 2 or 3-0, but S.Paolo scored fluke goal. On second half post by Tevez, and 2 100% chances missed by Nilmar, and like allways in football they got punished with two quick goals...After that S.Paolo controled game until the end.
