A few interesting opportunities in Portugal this weekend, I'd say.
Sporting are overrated against Académica, I would fancy Académica at least on a +1 handicap.

Benfica's price away at Setúbal is a laugh. Not touching them.

I fancy Olhanense to get something from this match against Nacional who have been struggling. Olhanense are clinging on to their delicate position in the standings, they can be a tough nut at home and this is the sort of match you'd expect them to capitalize on. +0,5 or +0.

Porto have found form again and must get past Naval if they are to have any hope - should Benfica win on Saturday they may enter this match 12 points adrift though with 2 matches in hand. I fancy a -1 handicap here and Falcao to score anytime looks a worthwhile bet too (I couldn't find prices for this one).

As for Braga, they've just been hit by a string of suspensions and a lot of water will run beneath this bridge between now and Monday. They look shortish though.

Benfica -2 3.60 @ Sportingbet

seems interesting

and Braga -1 2.15 @ bet365, belenenses seems to me a very poor team

No official decision has been made yet. According to the regulations though he is not expected to be able to play before April. If it sounds absurd, that's because it is...

Having thought this through i'm sticking with Olhanense +0.5 and Porto -1.5. I still think there's value in Académica but the outcome just seems more uncertain.

Benfica have just drawn 1-1 at Setúbal.

Further boost for Porto to win their home match tomorrow and claw back 2 points. I'll go with a -1,5 handicap tomorrow.

Sporting are in shambles and despite Benfica's slip up tonight Sporting look a clear Lay in my book for Tuesday's League Cup match.

A match between rivals are very unpredictable, I remember a few months ago Liverpool was playing like shit and I backed United, the result was ... 2-0 for Liverpool.

Maybe over 2,5, depending on the odds, should be my guess

That's a good point, I'm well aware of that and indeed Lisbon derbies quite often go against the logic of recent form. But it's just that Sporting are lacking confidence after being thumped in Porto last Tuesday and I think they'll have trouble getting their act together against Benfica. Let's see what odds come up for that match.
Sporting were a bit unlucky yesterday I have to say but again the belief was not there to overcome the headwind.

I am taking Porto -1.5-2.0 AH at 1.90 (bet 365). I see their opponents have only scored 3 league goals away from home all season although they have only conceded 11. I can see Porto being keen to close the gap on the leaders and will not want to slip up

what do u think of Braga tonight? This looks like a clear AW.
Maybe -1 Braga @2.90(betsson) could be taken 5 pts.

Braga have won all 3 clashes in 2009 / 2-0, 0-5, 3-1
Braga is with 4 straight wins in the league. They didnt conceed a goal in these games.

any thoughts?

Hi Glock,

I don't like Braga at these odds of 1.57 or thereabouts, and I wouldn't advise betting on the handicaps. I'm staying out of this match altogether, though I think Braga are rightly favourites, but Belenenses will put up a fight as they attempt to escape relegation. No bet for me, I'd much rather look at Inter to win in Parma next Wednesday or Porto to beat a struggling Leixões next week.

Belenenses - Braga
I´m a bit scared of Belenenses cause they drawed against Porto´s first team in the cup two weeks ago. But only three days before they lost at home against Leixoes 1-3 and last week against Naval 0-1, two teams from the bottom of the table. So Belenenses cannot be good and although Braga already had some problems with "bad" teams this season (only 1-1 at Leixoes and a 0-0 at home against Naval) Braga should win this match, cause they have to if they want to minimize the gap to leaders Benfica and so they should be concentrated. But I am not from Protugal and I have no further information about suspended or injured players.

Braga have two first team regulars suspended, Vandinho and Mossoró.
But really, if you know so little - and I'm not reaally the person to help you about Braga - why place a bet?

As we say in Portugal there are more tides than there are sailors, you can be sure to have better betting opportunities this week.

Belenenses v Braga - @1.62 betfred
I dont know much about this league either but i've hinted this match since the odds have comeout on the market and i favor it from the start of the week . Odds are low , i know , but Braga will face the last team in the portuguese league and they really need a win to stay in touch with Benfica who are on the first spot . They are two games minus ahead of Benfica and this is a strong argument for this bet , cause if they win those two games they will snitch the first position and for that me thinks that they will give it all they've got tonight . Also is worth mentioning that Belenenses plays better on foreign soil than has done it at home , this being another argument fro this bet .
