From freebetting

Hannover vs Cottbus, 22.08.2008 at 20:30

None of these teams made a good impression in the first round, considering that they suffered identical 3:0 defeats. Hannover failed to resist Schalke, but we can say that the Reds could have scored at least a goal on this tough ground. After several missed chance sin the match against Hoffenheim, Cottbus soon conceded and from the on the things went on downhill for coach Prasnikar’s players.

Hannover handled Cottbus easily at home in the last two seasons

After a tough opening defeat, coach Hecking's lads will have the chance to ake up for it in front of home fans, but only in case they win Cottbus. An advantage for Hannover is that they are hosting a weak team who also suffered a defeat in the opening round.

High hopes were laid on attacking duo Hanke - Schlaudraff in the first round, but evidently these players will need more time to adjust. Although Hannover were losing 2:0 only ten minutes into the game, both goals scored from corners, coach Hecking didn't opt for the risky move of fielding third striker Forssell who will have a chance for his debut precisely in this match against Cottbus. Unlike his colleague, Mario Eggimann got a chance for the debut in the back line by the middle of the second half, but unfortunately, precisely after his one-on-one with Kuranyi, the latter set the final score. Only one rooky was in Hannover's line-up and it was young attacker Schlaudraff, who will most likely get a chance to play form the start in the second match. Tarnat, Stajner, Jensen, Yankov and Zizzo are injured and won’t play.

Will they survive the third season in Bundesliga?

Already after the first round Cottbus fans again have a headache and they fear for their favourites' status in the elite this season. Actually, home fans left the stadium disappointed after a tough loss to league debutant, Hoffenheim.

If Cottbus players show the same inefficiency in the second match, home win won’t come into question. Actually, they miss very good chances which is one of the main reasons for Energie's convincing defeat on the start. Pavicevic had an infamous debut as centre back; coach took him off the pitch in the second half. Striker, Sorensen managed to score in the match against Hoffenheim, but the referees decided that he committed a foul over the opposing keeper, after which the goal was disallowed. In the match against Hannover, Iliev will have a chance for debut, and he is expected to do a lot this season. Frankie, Pentke, Bittroff, Zimmermann, Galm and Lerchl won’t travel because of injuries.

Betting Verdict

In the last ten first-league games these teams met, not once did they draw, so judging by that statistics, as well as low efficiency form the first round, that will be the least suitable outcome for both sides. Both sides have so far marked five wins each in head-to-head duels, where plenty of goals are always scored. Still, we give a slight advantage to the home side that, besides better quality in the squad, also have the support from the stands.

Our tip: Bet 7 on Home win

Hannover (-1) HC @ 2.75 bet365 3/10
It's a difficult choice to choose between much stake on the usual home win or to play Hannover with a certain handicap. I think there is good value on a clear Hannover win, a close game would surprise me here. Hannover were quite weak against Schalke but even in that way, the good old firend of Schalke - the set pieces - had to be taken to trash Hannover. H96 actually have what it takes to become more than a team from table middle. Offence can cause trouble to any defence but their own defence is the problem these days, unsurprisingly this part gave a poor picture last weekend. Well, they face Cottbus now who were just mediocre against Hoffenheim, maybe there won't even come much from them in that aspect. The guests probably will put more focus on defence again after forward play has been limited. I don't think they can resist angry Hannover though and if they once break Cottbus, a clear home win becomes likely.

IN first round of Bundesliga both team lost their first games.Hanover was suprised from Schalke away with goals in early minutes.IN 7 minutes Schalke score two goals and that was big schock for Hanover who in second half concede third goal and lost 3-0.In other side Cottbus was suprised by newcomer Hoffenheim loosing at home 0-3.Star of newcomers in the league was Vedad ibisevic scoring two goals. In this game i see Hanover favorite and i think that they can manage to win this game.In last year result in this stadium was 4-0 for Hanover i hope that they will win this year too and continou tradition.

Werder Bremen - Schalke

Fall start for Bremen with the 1-1 draw against Arminia. At Saturday they host to more difficult opponent. Schalke started with a classical win against Hannover and now is ready to get some more points. But maybe first Bremen's match was for training and i expect better performance. I go here for both teams to score.

Hannover - Cottbus
both with a 3-0 defeat in the first round. 5-0-5 balance in total. 4-0-1 and 4-0-1. Hannover canīt win in the "Stadion der Freundschaft" and Cottbus canīt win at lower saxony. And it seems that the series will continue tonight. Hannover with the home advantage looks much better than the east germans. Cottbus was the 3rd worse team in the away table in the last season. Only one win and 7 draws. They scored the fewest goals (10) on the away side in Bundesliga. Canīt imagine that Prasnikar handle these hugh problems in the summer break.

Hannover to win
over 2.5 goals

My money has gone on Schalke to avoid defeat this weekend. Two evenly matched teams here, Bremen opened their Bundesliga campaign with a disappointing 2-2 draw away to expected strugglers Bielefeld while Schalke trounced mid table candidates Hannover 3-0 in their first game. Both teams will be missing important players (e.g. Bremen missing Diego, Schalke missing Farfan, Jones) and Bremen may grant a debut to the returning Claudio Pizarro but barring last season's 5-1 thrashing, Schalke actually have a decent recent record vs. Werder winning 4 of the previous 6 meetings. I'll chance my arm on the AH.

1pt Schalke (+0.5AH) to beat W Bremen @ 1.85 (bet365)

GL all...

I do not imagine a great game here, Werder without their best creative midfielders might be somehow toothless in attack, which will be perfect for Schalke, who, yet again start the season well. On the other hand leaning towards an Under is against me, after all this is Germany. I would rather enjoy both great games tomorrow, as I do not feel safe with any choice in both Bremen and Dortmund. ATM Hertha looks good to me for an Over, which is priced much better than the HW - I always expect Hertha to make the bookies richer after a couple of good games, their somehow aristocratic attitude should see Arminia scoring a goal or two??????

Hamburg - Karlsruhe
see Hamburg infront here. They blamed Karlsruhe 7-0 in the end of the bygone season. Karlsruhe lost Hajnal (Dortmund) and Eggimann (Hanover) two very important players for Karlsruhe. Playmaker Porcello is disabled for this match and also midfielder Mutzel (midfield) canīt start versus Hamburg. Hamburgs skipper v.d.Vaart signed a deal with Real Madrid and in the middle of the week they transfered Mladen Petric (Dortmund) and gave them 8 m€ and Mohamed Zidan. Vincent Kompany left the club and sign a contract on the isle with ManCity. But Hamburg looks better for me. Theyīll start with a 4-3-3. The v.d.Vaart follower Trochowski done a good first match after v.d. Vaart versus Bayern Munich (2-2) and also versus Belgium in the middle of this week (2-0) in midfield. He could be a good playmaker in midfield but he need more time. Karlsruhe could only win 3 times versus Hamburg away from home (12-8-3) the last time in 92/93.

Hamburg to win
over 2.5 goals

Stuttgart - Leverkusen
a classical bundesliga meeting. classical for a draw. But imo in this time Stutgart is better than Leverkusen. Stuttgart with 3 wins in a row catched Jan Simak from CZ Jena and Jens Lehmann the former national keeper from Arsenal London - good transfers and they shown that in the opening versus Gladbach (3-1). Leverkusen canīt manage the home leg versus Dortmund (2-3), made one mistake more than Dortmund and have some personnel problems infront of this match (Gresko,Sarpei,Adler,Schneider injured. Barbarez career end...). Especially in defense. Djakpa and Henrique are new players and not bring in...

Stuttgart to win

good luck

Bremen - Schalke
Pizarro is back in the german league after one year in england (Chelsea London). Heīll be the third national forward for Bremen (Hugo Almeida/Portugal,Rosenberg/Sweden) and is happy to be back in Bremen where he scored 2 years in this career before he left the club and gone to Bayern Munich. Schalke miss Engelaar,Farfan and Jones as most important missings. Engelaar and Farfan are needful for the offensive game. They won 3-0 versus Hanover but all goals were scored after set pieces. Canīt see a winner here. But the over 2.5 is a good punt in my eyes. Bremen is the most striking team in the last couple of years. They beat Schalke 5-1 in the last season and also Schalke is a good offensive team.

over 2.5 goals
(maybe 2-2)

Default Re: Germany - Bundesliga ( 22/23/24 08 2008 )

Well, destructive Cottbus can be hard to break but it surprised me that Hannover didn't manage to be more forcing and thus break them once at least.

Hertha BSC @ 1.7 stan james 6/10

It was a game that suited Hertha in Frankfurt, still they played it very clever like an actual bigger team. UI-Cup might have helped them to be ready for league right away. Now we know that the countering Hertha often found it difficult to outplay their opponents at home but I reckon they can do so with Bielefeld here.Hertha gained quality in defence and midfield especially and a better working midfield should create more chances than the one of last season. Pantelic is in superb shape, the negotiations over a new contract may push him along the "normal" motivation. Piszczek is out for midfield but the new signing Chermiti already gave good impressions in pre-season. Bielefeld on the other side, once again treated as potential relegater, once again did alright against a poor Werder in first game and were close to achieve the deserved win. They also profited from the leaky Bremen defence though and I think Hertha will get harder to break. Bielefeld themselves still have to play withut Mijatovic in the back. Katongo prooved as vital for offence but I don't see them getting sth here facing a Hertha team in pretty good shape.

Hamburg (-1) AH @ 1.75 bet365 5/10

Hamburg have been in impressive shape already and made vdV forgotten already even though with him, they maybe even would have beat Bayern. Jol seems doing a good job there but the main strength should be the excellent shape of the whole team neraly, it looks like they're playing close at their limit already. I hope the performances of Trochowski and Guerrero weren't based on the effect to face one's former team but this wouldn't be very professional on the other hand. Olic was bloody dangerous as well so that I don't have much worries about a toothless HSV here. Jol favours a mroe offensive football than Stevens and with Petric from Dortmund, Hamburg signed a proper replacement for vdV. Petric can play this part but probably we'll not see him behind the attack where Trochowski is fair enough. Karlsruhe also had a succesful start with the 1-0 over Bochum. The guests will try to put more focus on the attack this season but it also has to be said that Bochum were just weak. Karlsruhe also still seem to suffer from a poor efficiency and it is hard to believe this will change without new players in the front even though there are a few techniquans.

BVB-Bayern Over 2.5 @ 1.8 stan james 5/10

Last three meetings ended over and I expect to follow this trend due various reasons. Dortmund were a bit lucky to sneak all three points from Leverkusen as play wasn't outstanding really. But it can be expected to see a Dortmund with more drive and force this season, coach Klopp probably can take more influence on the team than many BVB coaches in the last few seasons. Valdez is on fire and also the just signed Zidan profits from a sensitive coach like Klopp. Dede severly got injured so that the anyway young defence gets even younger through the expected replacement Schmelzer - this might be a chance for the powerful Bayern attack in which Toni will return (not clear if from beginning on though). Regarding Bayern with their currently leaky defence and more offensive approach under Klinsmann (only one no.6 -van Bommel- expected again with Zé Roberto on the left). Bayern have to win it to preveent early rumours but I reckon therefor they have to net more than once. With Klose on the bench and Toni playing right away in best case I don't have much doubts about the over to become true.

Hoffenheim @ 2.15 stan james 4/10

I think it's too much to pretend that Hoffenheim now are much stronger than M'gladbach as not much has changed to last season. Still, I judge Hoffenheim higher than Gladbach and the more mature play may make it easier for them in Bundesliga where a team normally doesn't get won over even on a rather bad day what can be the case a league down. It was impressing how cool Hoffenheim outplayed Cottbus and they surely took much confidence home from their first appearance in the highest league. Obasi hasn't returned yet but it would be hard to drop on fire Ibisevic and Ba from the first XI. M'gladbach in the attack weren't bad against Stuttgart but the guests were more efficient and also simply better. Defence and keeper Heimeroth weren't good enough for this league and it will be interesting to see how much this part can improve. Facing Hoffenheim, a stable defence would be of need to have a chance, I reckon.

Spot on what nicko said about Werder-Schalke, I also think this needn't automatically become a game rich of goals. Werder might do hard to come to chances and then even Pizarro wouldn't help them much probably. Schalke on the other side is just too handicap by the missings either to expect too much of them.

Stuttgart-Leverkusen also looks like a tough one, I'm not yet convinced of the Stuttgart attack even though Gomez finally scored again. Offence of Leverkusen shouldn't be underestimated having the likes of Augosto and Helmes but they're having huge problems in the back.

Good luck guys

I still think Hertha will make everybody sweat this afternoon, they look good atm but it won't the first time they would let people down. Will stick to my original choice, Over 2,5 goals. I am also tempted with the same choice in Hoffenheim.

Overall i could agree with Mc Fly and more or less the other posters but odds for

a Hamburg victory are too low even for a HC victory. I watched several matches of hamburg during the presseason and i was quite impressed even without Van der Vaart. So a hamburg victory is the safest bet today in my oppinion but i bet live and hope for slightly better odds or stay away because i do not take such odds in german bundesliga

I would also agree that hertha is a clear favorite in this match and should win against Bielefeld but for me odds are also too low because Bielefeld as Cottbus are in my oppinion bookies best cash cows always completly underestimated and at least sometimes able to suprise because it could be very hard to play against these teams as we saw yesterday.

So perhabs i play a combo of Hertha and hamburg medium stakes 3-4/10

My bet of today is Hoffenheim with medium stakes i got a 2,10 for -0,5 and i think that a reasonable price. I remember the match against Gladbach last season in Hoffenheim and Hoffenheim offers simply the best price risk kombination but also only medium stakes 3-4/10 because despite a clear victory in Cottbus for Hoffenheim and a clear defeat of Gladbach Hoffenehim is not so much stronger than Gladbach.

Stuttgart is clearly a reasonable bet and i will follow the match on tv and perhabs place a live bet. The other two matches a clealry nice to watch but i do not have a betting oppinion here
