Default Re: Germany - 3rd league (26-27 July 08)

So the 3rd leagues became a single, stronger 3rd league in which a row of good names can be found.

Unterhaching @ 1.9 bet365 4/10

I'm quite convinced of the strength of U'haching and I doubt we'll often get home odds for them close to even this season. Haching showed a good developement in second season half of previous season and besides the attack, the team hasn't changed much. Lechleiter and Gülsesam surely were essential losses in offence but the ambitous signings Bischof (from Reutlingen) and especially in form Steegmann (Aalen) should help to hold the level up in the front. Haching impressed during preparations with 4-0 and 4-2 wins over Innsbruck and 1860.

Werder II are well-known for their alright play and offense power, yet has the team to find itsself once again due to a big cut compared to previous season. They're used to loose talented players but also came to two experienced players as compensation. Contrary to Haching, Werder won't be at full strength even if a few players join the team from the trainings camp of the first team.

The Over potentially is another option but not worth playing for @ 1.7 around IMO.

Braunschweig +0.5 (AH) @ 1.8 bet365 3/10

Might give an open game in Aue so that I see some value on the guests. The Braunschweig defence has become very stable compared to the very leaky one which we have in mind - since the addition of Nastatse in winter they've made a big improvement in that part. Consistency speaks for the guests - while Braunschweig massively improved during previous season and still have a similar face, relegater Aue has made a big cut. A few new and experienced players have to lead a very young Aue team that may need some time to reach the class they potentially have. Squad is very thin though so that the threatening. Aue are still looking for another striker which might become the part causing the most problems. Also Braunschweig try their luck with a young offence what is a risk on both sides.

Sandhausen-Aalen Over 2.5 @ 2.0 stan james 2/10

This Over seems makable and is paid okay in contrast to the U'haching one. Sandhausen have signed Leandro from Aue who should proove as excellent addition. Offence is looking stronger than in last season what they can need as Sandhausen have to improve efficiency. Aalen stood for a powerful offence and leaky defence, so it's obvious where they want to improve. Expecting two powerful attacks, a small bet on the Over should have good chances to come through despite having a solid defence on the host side. Both teams have gained strength, maybe Aalen are slight favourite here. But only the Over is tempting me really, I recommand small stake in this early stage though.

Still thinking about Offenbach(0). They've made a good impression in pre-season despite being a totally different team compared to the second league team. Stuttgart are quite a good side as well on the other hand, so I'm not sure if there's value on the guest's odds really.

Union Berlin (0) @ 1.97 bet365 3/10 & Over 2.5 @ 2.0 stan james 4/10

Union closely missed promotion but could impress with a very forcing attack. The team hasn't changed much due to financial reasons. This is no problem for offence which got strengthened by Dogan anyway but defence has to become more stable to previous season. Experience and also individual class speak for the guests to beat Bayern II. The host has lost substance but can rely on talented guys. I don't think though this will be enough to win this, Union is the more effective and clever team. During preparations, Union only convinced for one half mostly though. This might indicate on a bad physical state which would possibly mean lacking power attack but also the chance for Bayern to score.

Düsseldorf-Paderborn Over 2.5 @ 2.1 stan james 2/10

Two pretty strong defences let me be careful with staking, yet have both teams to offer sth in the attacks, too. Düsseldorf didn't change much but if consistency improves, Fortuna may play a good role in this league. Paderborn had to make a big cut after relegation but it looks like the team has class enough to at least play for the first few spots - that's where most coaches expect them to finish season. Düsseldorf are always good for class football (having been a little volatile in last season though) and I don't expect Paderborn to hide. Both seem capable to nick this one and I expect each of them to score (knowing 1-1 wouldn't help me). To say though that these teams stood for Unders in last season.

Solid going today with the 2 overs, so a good start into season.
