Marseille as the team with no strikers in the whole squad and also without Niang, the only man who can be rated as one, who is injured. The season started with two boring 0-0's and to be honest, Rennes could win the last match as Marseille shows nothing special to win a match. For today, the only reason why i go for Marseille is that i don't see this team winless in three games. Valenciennes has some players that can score goals and Marseille defense that has not conceeded any goal in two matches is not so strong and can conceed today but i will go against my logical explanation and take the name today. Like the funny movie i have just watched says; "The Devil Wears Prada". I accept to be the devil today and go for the name, not the performance.

My top bet for Ligue 1 today. Auxerre is the much stronger team and Strasbourg will be without main defender Manuel Dos Santos. For the left back could Ahmed Abou start. The other scenario can be that Paisley that is a left/center back starts on the left side. To find a centerback will not be a big problem for coach Furlan. Auxerre has also a list on unavailable players but IMO, no one that crucial. Maybe just Toifilou Maoulida, the new sign from Marseille can be rated as a starter. Auxerre with nice odds to get a win today will be my bet

Three points from the away match vs Auxerre was a good result that also will mean Bordeaux with a high morale. Le Mans got two wins in the first two and the morale is high there as well. Missing player main defender Jurietti is a loss for Bordeaux but Coutadeur is a more important loss for Le Mans. He played in first two games and is one of the keys in Le Mans' midfield defense. Now, Romaric will need to fight more. IMO, Bordeaux will win this match with 1-2 goals.

If i remember correct, last season when this match "Paris SG - Lorient" ended "2-3", this was the shock of the weak as it was the season opener, or maybe the 2nd match, don't remember now. That match was a shock for Paris as they lead the first half 2-1 and lost in the 2nd half and the whole season was a big loss after that. Now, Le Guen will not allow this happen. Lorient as not a strong team and Paris SG have everything needed to get three point. The 0-0 vs Sochaux should not worry you. Paris SG could win it easily. The last draw vs Lens was also a success. PSG is one of the good teams in Ligue 1 and this week will Le Guen gain his first three points. Lorient has some missing players and even with a full squad are they not strong IMO.

Beside these four picks, i think Monaco will win today as Metz are weak with all the missing players this season. Monaco has no win in first two games and the home match could be a chance to get the win.
The reason i don't pick Monaco are the odds and the missing players. Lucas Bernardi, Mohamed Kallon, Camel Meriem... These all are Monaco's strong players. Just Piquionne and Koller could be enough to beat Metz but i will not take the risk unless Monaco shows me that they are a real team within the players like eachother.

Bordeaux and PSG im very disappointed with, especially as they had the whole of HT to plan their tactics for the 2nd half.

As for Marseille, well the same old story im afraid - they just didnt look like scoring much. When they went ahead I thoughtit was a nailed on 0-1, but their defence collapsed, then conceding that late savidan superb goal

its not easy ligue 1 at the moment and you must take the rough with the smooth

I always hate midweek rounds anyway, never done very well with them in the past

I cant get away form Nancy tonight, I still dont think they will do that well this season, but they have started in a positive way and should have too much strength to see off Nice. The visitors have played poorly in both their games so far, even struggling to beat 10 man Strasbourg on Saturday. Nancy are a good home team and Nice normally a bad away one, I'd say it's likely they win this game 1-0 or 2-0.
