I'm wondering if Standard Liege are worth opposing or 1-1 needs covering for the visit of Genk this friday?

Anderlecht have a 9-0-0 H2H v Beveren in this fixture and I'm pretty sure they'll be under pressure and motivated to do the business here- I expect a 3-0 or 3-1 home win!

Standard - Racing Genk : 1

Odds: 1.70

Bookmaker: Betandwin

This has to be the topgame this week-end in the Jupiler League. 2 teams from top 5 it's always nice to watch. I strongly beleave that Standard will win this one:
Standard have big revenge feelings. Last year Genk and Standard ended both 3rd and they had to play a “test”match to decide who will play in UEFA-cup next year. Standard won at home with 3-1 (could be 6-1...) but in Genk without Conceicao they lost with 3-0 so Genk played UEFA-cup this year! Consequences were big for Standard: less money, less spectators, no UEFA-cup games=> Standard (because of his name) must play each year in Europa Cups. The advantage is that Standard played less games and they concentrate on the championship and are current 2nd
Genk sucks big-time now. Ok, they win home games with 1-0, get points away but their method of playing is awful. Only with one striker Peeters, and they create not much chances. The other striker, Kevin Van Den Bergh gives each week critics to the coach Broos. He says: “Each week we train with 2 strikers and just before the game trainer tells me that he'll play with only one striker Bob Peeters. It's not acceptable for me: I want to play!
The atmosphere is bad in the team, players says that.
Long term injured players: Koen Daerden, Erik Matoukou en Gert Claessens are for 85% fit and will play with reserves to see their condition. The injury list in Genk is big:
Steven Defour,Tom Soetaers, Sinan Bolat, Sven Verdonck, Indridi Sigurdsson, Bob Peeters are doubtfull. Jordan Remacle is for sure out.
For Standard: Kovalenko, Onyewu en Negouai are doubfull but can probably play! Conceiçao, Costa and Rapaic trained indivual but can probably also play! So no big injuries here. Long term injured De Camargo is still out! Conceiçao will get his “golden shoes” before the game. It's an award for the best player in Belgium.
Standard who still fight for the title, has to win this one, Genk had too much luck this days, they won undeserved against Germinal Beerschot, La Louviere.. Even fans saying that it will be good to lose a game, maybe the players will get a declic then. Standard played quite good against Lokeren, but without big chances: so 0-0 was the FT.
Standard will win with 3-1

My picks for this weekend

Westerlo - Club Brugge: 2 7/10
Brugge has to get rid of their bad away reputation and of course has to win before the clash next weekend against Anderlecht.
The injured players they had last week, are back.
Westerlo has no real strikers upfront and the loss (4-1) in Beveren proofs that they're not the swinning team of the first round.

Charleroi - Lokeren: UNDER @ 1.80 6/10
Charleroi always has a more defensive style (altough this is mostly practised in away games). Of course they'll try to win this one but they probably will be carefull for injuries etc. because they have a cup-match next midweek. And the cup is the priority of course..
Lokeren has still no strikers (injured). Only with Bance they have a player that can hold the ball. I believe they'll will play in a triangle-system and keep everything closed. Last week against Standard they played very defensive. I think they'll do this against because it paid off (0-0 vs Standard).

My own club plays 2morrow against Genk.
A match we must win.
Suspended: Rapaic (a blow but not irreplaceable)
My prediction : a win but i'll not be so easy as one expects. Genk always better against top teams. And VDB will be fired up to proof the coach's mistrust in him.

Zulte-Waregem -1 (2.26) @ Pointbet

This bet looks good to me, Lierse picked up, but again now have seemed to let their form slip into dangerous teritory. They were well baet in their previous 2 games, and now they face a team who has performed above expectations all season, and living up to the, a fantastic away win at Roselare was the home sides last triumph. Only bet i can see with reason here is the home win, and although team news could affect things etc., i find the odds on this -1 to appealing to wait for. 5/10 for the home win.

Zulte-Waregem - Lierse

Zulte-Waregem who keeps surprising receaves Lierse who is still fighting against the relegation. It's very strange that a team who came from 2nd division has so much points, and they have still chance to become champions. They are currently 4th with only 5 points away from the 1st place. Lierse who has a very difficult season, still have hope to stay in the Jupiler League. Recently some newspaper said that the first gk of Lierse, Yves Van Der Straeten receaved money from Chineses to fix the games. He says that it's not true. Lierse trainer Trost stays very calm saying that whole group has difficulties, that they suffer a lot, but “we have to bear it together”.
Lierse don't have long term injuries. Stef Wils is injured and is doubtfull for the friday match.
Nunes got his 3rd yellow, so he is suspended.
For Zulte-Waregem: D'haemers en Leleu are surely out. Minne is also injured but is doubtfull.
Last week-end Zulte-Waregem won in Roeselare with 0-3 BUT they had so much luck..3 shots, 3 chances and 3 goals. Roeselare was much better, pressed a lot, but without luck. Lierse played quite good against AA Gent (1-3) but Gent was simply the better side, better quality so this is a normal result. Fans of Zulte-Waregem says that it will be very difficult match, but they are hoping for a win. Lierse fans are sure that they win there, simply becauce they “must”. Lierse playes good after New Year, and I would be surprised if we this game ends with 3-0 but if we compare the teams Zulte-Waregem is the better side. It's a typicaly no bet game! Lierse will fight, they need the points. Zulte-Waregem will play relaxed and they can lose undeserved (it's time for it..) but they can win this with much luck.. To be short: Everything is POSSIBLE! Big NO BET!!!

Westerlo - Club Brugge

Again a very difficult away game for Brugge. They don't play good away, very very poor.
Ok, Westerlo is in poor form now. They lost in Beveren with 4-1. They didn't play well, and gave the points as a gift to Beveren. Westerlo trainer Helleputte is ex-Beveren coach, so he had maybe some mercy with his ex-team. Brugge won undeserved against Charleroi. It's unbeleavable how much chances Charleroi got, and they wasted them all! Brugge had luck to win, they have to thank Dufer who was a supersub and played great.
As we look to statistics Brugge didn't lost in Westerlo since 1999 but they never had it easy there. The stadion is sold-out, it's always nice to play in front of full stadion.
Westerlo defender Mario Verheyen is suspended because he got his 3rd yellow in the match against Beveren. Injured Delen played with reserves but he will be probably out.
Brugge: long term injured Butina and Lange are still out. De Cock, Vanaudenaarde, Stijnen, Ishiaku, Klukowski are all doubtfull but they can probably all play except De Cock who didn't trained yet.
Brugge trainer Ceulemans has problems with his striker Balaban. He plays very bad, plays listless. (btw, he is very good striker). Ceulemans says that he doesn't count on him so he won't play (probably). So probably only 2 strikers on the field: Old Verheyen and Portillo. Imo, Brugge plays years in 4-3-3 system and now they will play in 4-4-2 and I'm curious what will happen.
Westerlo plays for nothing: they can't relegate, they can't play UEFA next year, so they'll play for honour and for their fans. Brugge has a better teams without doubts but they are so poor away so I simply don't recommend you to bet on them!

Anderlecht - Beveren

Has to be an easy win for the hosts. They “must” win if they want the title. Standard is one point behind them and Beveren is not a big oppenent, so Anderlecht knows that they can't lose points against poor Beveren who is now in big problems:
Beveren board sacked their main sponsor (technical director) Guillou and trainer Dufour. Eddy De Bolle is now the head coach. He says that the whole situation is crazy, much chaose in Beveren. Beveren Ivory coast players are not happy that their second “father” Guillou is sacked. Still, they are happy that they won against Westerlo and they hope not to relegate. Win against Westerlo (4-1) was in fact very simple => Westerlo defence sucked.
Anderlecht had a very painfull defeat against STVV, coach Vercauteren said: “Ok, we lost with 3-0 but those are only 3 points and we can still become champion”
Joseph Augustin is probably out for the game against Anderlecht. Striker Zezeto went to Ukraine to traine with Metalurg Donetsk.
For Anderlecht: Tiote, Lovre, Pujol are doutfull, but they are not important. Long term injured Kompany and Juhasz (both defenders) are still out.
Whole Anderlecht hopes that the man in form: Frutos will score saturday. He is very important, big striker, and he'll play against little ivory coast players. Beveren Eddy De Bolle is realist: he knows that it's very difficult to get some points from Astridpark. As said: Easy win for Anderlecht!

Charleroi - Lokeren

A battle between the current 7 and 9. They play for nothing: only for honour and for their fans. Lokeren who got a superb 4/6 against topteams Brugge and Standard are in good form but they got much critics from newspaper and fans that they play ultra-defensive! Lokeren said: it's the only method to get points against topteams. The best player till now is keeper Milojevic. He played really excellent, made many superbsaves!
Charleroi had a dissapointed evening in Brugge last week. They dominated the game, had so many chances but wasted them. In the end they lost, and nobody is happy now. Still all players says that life goes on, and that they have to play for 110% next 8 games.
Charleroi: Serebrennikov en Laquait got their 3rd yellow, so they are suspended. No injury worries for the coach Matthijsen till now. Bad luck for Laquait because he played 87 games without stop in Charleroi. End of the beautiful serie for him.
Lokeren: Bouab Ali, Gretarsson Arnar, Drulic Goran, Van Handenhoven Gunter, Bouchouari Hakim, Doba Lezou Hugues, Vidarsson David are all out. Maybe only Doba Lezou can play, the others didn't play for a long time so Lokeren has to play against with theyir young players like Overmeire, De Winne .. But this player are doing good, trainer is happy with them.
Lokeren did quite well against the topteams but they never had easy away and playing in far Charleroi is not a gift. Home teams playes also got and they have some revenge feelings, so this will be probably a home win. Noone team had it easy @ Mambourg, so I expekt Charleroi to pamper their fans

G. Beerschot - Moeskroen

Again, a game for nothing. Both teams are almost saved their asses to not relegate. But it's a nice game between a french speaking team and a dutch speaking team. It's not easy for a french speaking team to go to Antwerpen, the fans are a bit racistisch.
Moeskroen came in news as a possible fixers team who involved many games. Whole team/board denyes!
Last week Moeskroen destroyed Cercle Brugge. A hard 6-0 result who nobody expekted. It was more the weakness of Cercle Brugge than the strenght of Moesroen. Still they have some good players like Noukeu, Zewlakow, and Custovic (came from an injury) who seemed to be very important in the attack. What to say about Germinal Beerschot? They played very well against Genk, but Dosunmu and Cruz wasted too much chances to get at least a point there. Germinal Beerschot is a good team now with normal defence, good midfield, and very good attack with Dosunmu.
Germinal Beerschot striker Cavens who was out is still out, otherwise no big injury worries for Jos Daerden.
Moeskroen: Hatchi and Siljak are doubtfull!
I think it will be a nice match to watch despite of the fact that Moeskroen plays defence minded. Hopefully we'll see many goals, but I don't think so. Germinal Beerschot convinced me lately and I think that they are able to catch the victory here, moeskroen was weak away, and they'll stay weak!

Cercle Brugge - FC Brussels

Oh, poor fans. Do you really think we get a game here? 2 awful teams play against each other. Brussels who is really bad played 0-0 at home against poor La Louviere. They have 3 distance shots = 3 goal chances. Nothing more. Poor Brussels fans! Team plays without ambition, there is no life in this Brussels. Same for Brugge! They are doing well at home, they have big defeats away, a really strange team. Cercle is now 14th and to prevent a bigger decrease in the standings they MUST win this one. It's also a match for the fans to show that 6-0 defeat in Moeskroen last week was a little “accident”

Fc Brussels is current 10th and they have to thank their defence for that with their keeper Nijs who is doing good job right now. So, they practicly can't relegate now, because they were very good before the new year with striker De Camargo who went to Standard.

Brussels didn't bought a real substitutes for De Camargo and that's why they are so poor now!

For Cercle: defender Portier is back from suspension, Svetlicic and Denis Viane are both since some weeks. Nobody is suspended.
For Brussels: Dudas (not important) and Sanogo are out, so there are only 2 strikers available: Snelders and Niçoise. This is a very bad duo as Snelders plays good football when he has a solid striker. Same for Niçoise. They are not complementary!

Brussels really waits for the end of the season to buy some good players, players are tired etc..
I rate Cercle a bit better now, the home advantage is also a point here. So I think Cercle will be able to win this one, maybe with 1-0 (typical defeat result for Brussels..)

La Louviere – Roeselare

La Louviere which current position is very bad receaves Roeselare. It's not a big game, noone is interested in this one. Roeselare striker Eloi, visits his ex-team. Hopefully for him, he will score!

Everybody says that La Louviere is the main team who fixed the games. Whole board knew that, and they got money to fix the games.

Newspaper knows that the Belgium FA investigates this case and that they will get a visit by police. A possible sanction for them is relegation to 3rd Division.

In a boring game La Louviere got a point in Brussels, playing defensive football and waiting for counter-attacks. Roeselare lost undeserved at home against Zulte-Waregem with 0-3.

La Louviere: Montoya is doubtfull for the game. Glouftsis, Leurquin, Tiago and Stojkov are the long-term injured. Durieux is suspended!

Roeselare: no injury news

La Louviere defence improved me a bit, they defend well with their keeper Cordier but the striker have also big defending tasks that's why they don't create much chances. Roeselare is poor away, got only 1 win in Gent. It's also a no bet game for me as Roeselare wants to win for the 2nd time away, La Louviere must win because of their position, but they sucks. It's a far trip for Roeselare and that's not an advantage. Value is on La Louviere.

AA Gent - Sint-Truiden

We end with a lovely sunday evening game between AA Gent and Sint-Truiden. There is an action in the Gent local newspaper ==> all fans can buy a ticket for just 1 euro.
Sint-Truiden has the task to save their ass in the Jupiler League, did great job against Anderlecht, they won with 3-0. It was a really party evening, whole stadion was crazy! But OK, trainer Caers said: “We have to prepare our next game against Gent”. Gent who suffered an painful elimination in the cup last wednesday, won in Lierse with 1-3! 3 really beautifull goals. Gent was just better in quality.
Gent can't get result at home. Fans waiting for weeks to see their team win in inherent stadion. They got a 0-0 draw against Moeskroen, lost 1-2 against Roeselare so now the 3rd time they will get a win. Why?

Gent is better in quality
It's a far trip for Sint-Truiden (not a good argument but still..)
Sint-Truiden have to attack as they have to get points
Gent has Boussoufa who is really great playmaker

Board asked to the trainer to win the remain games at home, and get at least some draws away.
Gent ambition is still top 5, they have to reach it, otherwise they can be eliminated from the G5 (an organisation of the best 5 Belgium teams).

For the statistic freaks: Sint-Truiden won their last game, but never won 2 games in a row this season

I still don't know if Grégoire (Gent) is suspended or not? Till now, nobody is injured!!!

Gent only problem is to score! Datti is out of form but Foley is in form! Hopefully we'll see a goal from him!

No injury news from Sint-Truiden!

Gent is simpily better than STVV who got their victory against Anderlecht so they can relax “very little bit” ... final verdict: 3-1
