Default Belgian League Preview 2008/2009

1. Club Brugge

DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image001.gif">

Transfers:
  • IN:Nabil Dirar (Westerlo), Bernt Evens (Westerlo), Ronald Alejandro Vargas (FC Caracas), Geert De Vlieger (Zulte Waregem), Laurent Ciman (Charleroi), Jared Jeffrey (Dallas), Joseph Akpala (Charleroi)
  • OUT: Brian Priske (Vejle BK), Joos Valgaeren (Emmen), Sven Vermant (Knokke), Birger Maertens (Heracles), Gaëtan Englebert (Tours), Timothy Dreesen (Lierse), Stephan Kucera (Sparta Praag), Olivier De Cock (vrij), Ibrahim Salou (Duisburg)

Friendly games:

04/07 Koksijde-Club Brugge 2-6
06/07 KV Oostende-Club 1-2
09/07 Club-Bergen 1-2
11/07 Aalter-Club 3-8
16/07 KM Torhout-Club 0-4
19/07 Club-Roeselare 2-1
23/07 G Beerschot-Club 0-3
27/07 MSV Duisburg-Club 1-0
30/07 Diksmuide-Club 0-2
03/08 Club-Lille 4-1
07/08 Aris Thessaloniki-Club 4-0
09/08 Asteras Tripolis-Club 0-0
16/08 Trabzonspor-Club
Analyze:
It may surprise some by putting Club Brugge on number one, but once this machine gets running it wont stop until gameday 34. Old rots Vermant, Englebert, Valgaeren and Priske finally left the club and there is now space for fresh pace. Club Brugge bought excellent wingers Vargas and Dirar and last years topscorer Akpala, who should form a deadly attacking duo with former top scorer Sonck this year. Still their defence is again not reinforced, defenders Evens and Ciman are only just solid defenders not more, but probably good enough for Belgium. Coach Matthysen finally needs to make his words hard this year and mostly in the end this guy gets it his way.

2. Anderlecht

DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image002.gif" o:title="AND">

Transfers:
  • IN:Mattias Suarez (Belgrano), Rubenilson dos Santos da Rocha 'Kanu' (Barueri), Arnold Kruiswijk (Groningen), Hernan Losada (Germinal Beerschot), Nemanja Rnic (Partizan Belgrado), Besnik Hasi (Cercle), Jakovenko (Genk), Gil Servaes (Dender), Roland Lamah (Roda JC), Cheikhou Kouyaté (Brussels)
  • OUT: Ahmed Hassan (Al Ahly), Mbo Mpenza (Larissa), Serhat Akin (?), Luigi Pieroni (Valenciennes), Cyril Théréau (Charleroi), Cheik Tioté (Twente), Mark De Man (Roda JC), Christian Leiva (Olimpia)

Friendly games:

02/07 Club Luik-RSCA 0-2

05/07 Knokke-RSCA 0-6
06/07 Hamme-RSCA 0-0
08/07 Taxandria-RSCA 0-7
10/07 Amateursel.-RSCA 0-11
12/07 Opoteni-RSCA 1-1
15/07 RSCA-Litex Lovech 1-1
20/07 OHL-RSCA 0-3
23/07 Anderlecht-Roda JC 2-1
30/07 CL: Anderlecht-Baté 1-2
02/08 Union-RSCA 1-2
06/08 CL: Bate-Anderlecht 2-2
09/08 Supercup: Standard-RSCA 3-1

Analyze:

Anderlecht is off course natural favourite to win the title each year, but dark clouds are hanging above them at the moment. The exclusion of the Champions League in the 2nd qualification round against Bate and in consequence also the Uefa Cup brings a very bad moral to several key players ( Polak, Biglia, Boussoufa and Frutos) who came to Anderlecht to play Champions League, but haven’t taste the Champions field in these 2 years. Meanwhile they also received an uppercut from Standard, who outplayed them in the super cup (3-1) one week before the competition start. First weeks will be difficult, also due to the fact that key attacker Frutos is out injured for several weeks, but this is Anderlecht and in the long run, they will fight for the title this year again

3. Standard

DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image003.gif">

Transfers:
  • IN: Laszlo Bölöni (Al-Jazeera),Joaquim Rolao Preto (Al Jazeera), Wilfried Dalmat (Bergen), Frans Masson, Jean-François Lecomte, Bejamin Nicaise (Bergen), Mehmet Sarper Kiskaç (Ankaragücü), Tomislav Mikulic (Dinamo Zagreb), Leon Benko (Nürnberg)
  • OUT: Xavier Fred (Dender), Michel Preud'homme (Gent), Stan Van den Buys (Gent), Manu Ferrera (Gent), Jérôme Nollevaux (Brussels), Miguel Dachelet (Zulte Waregem), Yanis Papassarantis (Roeselare), Vittorio Villano (Tubeke), Thomas Phibel (Brussels)

Friendly games:

05/07 Veldwezelt-Standard 0-5
09/07 Amay-Standard 0-11
12/07 MVV-Standard 1-3
19/07 KVK Tienen-Standard 2-1
23/07 FC Keulen-Standard 3-3
24/07 Standard-Hamoir 5-0
30/07 Valenciennes-Standard 0-1
31/07 Standard-Seraing 9-0
02/08 St-Etienne-Standard 3-0
09/08 Supercup: Standard-RSCA 3-1

Analyze:

From what I’ve seen in the Belgian Supercup, Standard will start very strong the first weeks of the season, but keyplayer Jovanovic will probably leave the club, which leaves them very thin in the attacking line, De Camargo and Mbokani are okay, but troubles will come if injuries occur. Biggest loss in the summer could be their champion’s Coach Preud’homme. He was able to support his youngsters in bad moments, while new headcoach Bölöni seems to be more distant to his players. If this team stays together during the winter (which I doubt), Standard will come very close to be champions again.

4. Genk

DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image004.gif">

Transfers:
  • IN: Daniël Tözser (AEK Athene), Hans Visser (Heerenveen) ,João Carlos (Lokeren), Adam Nemec (Zilinia), Daniel Pudil (Liberec)
  • OUT:Jo Coppens (Cercle), Nemanja Tubic (terug naar Cukaricki), Arne Nilis (PSV Eindhoven), Faris Haroun (Germinal Beerschot), Barak Itzhaki (Beitar Jeruzalem)

Friendly games:

01/07 Meeuwen SK-Genk 0-11
03/07 Herk FC-Genk 0-5
05/07 KSK Hasselt-Genk 0-3
09/07 ESK Leopoldsburg-Genk 1-7
12/07 Veldwezelt-Genk 0-4
15/07 VVV Venlo-Genk 0-0
19/07 Club Luik-Genk 3-10
25/07 OHL-Genk 1-4
30/07 Willem II-Genk 1-0
31/07 Taxandria-Genk 0-10
03/08 Genk-Iraklis 1-1
06/08 Genk-Al Rayyan 2-2
10/08 Genk-Heerenveen 2-2

Analyze:

Genk was very precise on the transfer market, but they’ve spend many euros on their 4 transfers. Attacking midfielder Tozser had to give away his place at AEK for good old Rivaldo, Brazilian quality defender Carlos was ready for a step forwards from Lokeren, Nemec is the target player they were looking for and so called enfant terrible Pudil has showed during the friendlies that he will be a serious weapon on Genk’s left side. Key player Barda stayed and will probably be one of the stars this season. After a disastrous year, I expect a very strong Genk this season.

5. Gent

DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image005.gif">

Transfers:
  • IN:Sébastien Phiri (Brussels), Benoit Ladrière (La Louvière), Pedro Rivas (Fernando de la Mora), Michel Preud'homme (Standard), Stan Van den Buijs (Standard), Manu Ferrera (Standard), Roy Myrie (Alajuelense), Ernest Nfor (terug van Kortrijk), Kenny Thompson (terug van Roeselare), Ekpoki Mohammed Abdulrazak 'Raza' (Hit Gorica), Valery Sorokin (Brussels), Frank Boeckx (STVV)
  • OUT:Djordje Svetlicic (G. Beerschot), Stijn Van Der Kelen (Zulte Waregem), Trond Sollied (Heerenveen), Chris Van Puyvelde (Heerenveen), Khalilou Fadiga (Germinal Beerschot), Steve De Ridder (De Graafschap), Mehmedalja Covic (Interblock Ljubljana), Dennis Wittesaele (Dender), Alexandre Martinovic (Dender), Gil Vermouth (Hapoel Tel Aviv)

Friendly games:

02/07 Oudenaarde-Gent 0-3
06/07 Wielsbeke-Gent 0-3
09/07 Torhout-Gent 0-10
12/07 Deinze-Gent 0-3
16/07 Hamme-Gent 0-3
19/07 Ramat Gan-Gent 2-4
23/07 Gent-Galatarsay 0-0
26/07 PSG-Gent 2-1
30/07 Gent-Brussels 4-1
02/08 Gent-Panthrakikos 2-1
06/08 Gent-Real Valladolid 1-2
14/08 UC: Gent-Kalmar

Analyze:

Last years Champions Coach Preud’Homme sees big potential in his new club and he may be right, fans are rising, a new Stadium will be build soon and when I look into the squad this year, I see a very well balanced team with one star player, Brian Ruiz. The outgoing transfers aren’t so important. Gent will make a good season, top 6 is certain.

6 Cercle Brugge

DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image006.gif">

Transfers:
  • IN: Jo Coppens (Genk), Lorenzo Staelens (Roeselare), Arnar Vidarsson (Twente), José Carlos Fernandez (Odessa), Thomas Buffel (Glasgow Rangers), Patrick Lane (Blackburn)
  • OUT: Tom Van Mol (Sint-Niklaas), Besnik Hasi (Assistent, Anderlecht), Rubin Dantschotter (Beveren), Slobodan Slovic (Antwerp), Osahon Eboigbe (OHL), Jimmy Dewulf (Oostende)

Friendly games:

08/07 Blankenberge-Cercle 0-2
11/07 Koekelare-Cercle 2-4
21/07 Cercle-Kampenhout 4-1
23/07 Cercle-Valenciennes 4-1
26/07 Cercle-Westerlo 3-2
28/07 Cercle-RC Waregem 1-1
31/07 De Graafschap-Cercle 0-1
01/08 RKC Waalwijk-Cercle 0-3
05/08 Antwerp-Cercle 1-2
09/08 Cercle-Real Vallaodolid 0-0

Analyze:

Cercle Brugge was amazingly able to keep their strong squad, but what was even more incredible was the transfer of talent Buffel from Glasgow Rangers. Private investors made this transfer possible for Cercle and he will bring off course a big quality injection. The dark side of the medal is that several key players are flirting with transfers, but the revelation of last season, will confirm their status this season with a good position in the league again.

7. Charleroi

DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image007.gif">

Transfers:
  • IN: David Vandenbrouck (Tubeke), Cyril Théréau (definitief overgenomen van Anderlecht), Mohsine Yajour (FC Chiasso), Chris Makiese (Lille), Abdessalam Benjelloun (Hibernian), Tarik Bendamou (Kawkab Marrakech)
  • OUT:Juan Pablo Pino (terug naar Monaco), Christian Leiva (terug naar Argentinië), Filippo Porco (terug naar Bergen), Ulens (Club Luik), Moreaux (Union), Laurent Ciman (Club Brugge), DamienLahaye (Namen), Steve Verelst (Namen), Michaël Blanc (Namen), Loïc Thomas (Namen), Gregory Christ (Duisburg), Joseph Akpala (Club Brugge)

Friendly games:

11/07 Malmundaria-Charleroi 1-10
16/07 FAR Rabat-Charleroi 1-0
21/07 Mas de Fès-Charleroi 1-0
25/07 Panathinaikos-Charleroi 5-1
27/07 Molignée-RCSC 0-5
29/07 Auxerre-RCSC 0-1
05/08 RCSC-Olympic Charleroi 2-1
09/08 Volendam-RCSC 1-2
10/08 Couvin-RCSC 0-4

Analyze:

With Ciman, Christ and especially last year’s golden boot, 18 goals, Akpala, Charleroi lost some quality, but with Vandenbrouck, Benjelloun and Bendamou they probably found the perfect replacements. Solid upper midtable team.

8.GBA

DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image008.png">

Transfers:
  • IN: Henri Munyaneza (Dender), Bartholomeo Ferrara (Sochaux), Paul Kpaka (Roeselare), Djordje Svetlicic (AA Gent), Gustavo Tormena (Juventude), Khalilou Fadiga (AA Gent), Rocky Peeters (STVV), Faris Haroun (Racing Genk), Kevin Vandenbergh (FC Utrecht), Marco Né (Olympiakos)
  • OUT: Arsène Né (Metallurg Donetsk), Mor Diop (Metallurg Donetsk), Hernan Losada (Anderlecht), Tim Vleminckx (Hamme), Gustavo Colman (Trabzonspor), Jasper Vermeerbergen (Beveren), Junior (contract ontbonden), Emmanuel Okoduwa (Dynamo Kiev), Jan Moons (?), Sébastien Chabaud (Charleroi), Vincenzo Verhoeven (Hamme)

Friendly games:

17/06 Wilrijk-GBA 0-2
19/06 FC Ekeren-GBA 0-1
24/06 Hemiksem-GBA 1-8
26/06 Meerdonk-GBA 0-6
01/07 Cappellen-GBA 0-0
05/07 GBA-Neftchi Baku 1-1
09/07 Berchem-GBA 0-4
12/07 Bakoe-GBA 1-0
15/07 Waasland-GBA 0-1
19/07 Bornem-GBA 0-1
23/07 GBA-Club Brugge 0-3
30/07 Wilrijk-GBA 0-4
02/08 STVV-GBA 0-0
06/08 GBA-NEC Nijmegen 1-1
09/08 GBA-Roda JC 0-1

Analyze:

GBA lost their 2 best players, Losada to Anderlecht and Colman to Trabzonspor.
This will have a big effect on this team, which already showed during their friendly games, they have some difficulties in the combinations. GBA understand that they had to react and bought youngster Haroun and killer striker Vandenbergh, these players can fail or can become revelations of this season, we will see.

9. Westerlo

DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image010.gif">

Transfers:
  • IN: Bart Deelkens (Beveren), Nicolas Timmermans (KV Kortrijk), Johan Sotil (José Galvez), Jaime Alfonso Ruiz (Alianza Atletico), Bertin Tomou (Moeskroen), Sergio Hellings (Leicester City)
  • OUT: Nabil Dirar (Westerlo), Bernt Evens (Club Brugge), Bart Van den Eede (Dender), Enzo Neve (Waasland), Ronny Gaspercic (stopt) Marc Wagemakers (STVV), Getulio (einde contract), Toon Vervoort (Hoogstraten), Gianni Convalle (Hoogstraten)

Friendly games:

09/07 Beerzel-Westerlo 0-12
12/07 Houtvenne-Westerlo 2-4
16/07 Westerlo-Club Luik 0-0
19/07 Hoogstraten-Westerlo 0-4
23/07 Westerlo-MVV 0-1
26/07 Cercle-Westerlo 2-1
30/07 Westerlo-Mol Wezel 3-0
02/08 Westerlo-Excelsior 3-2
06/08 OHL-Westerlo 2-1
09/08 STVV-Westerlo 0-0

Analyze:

Coach Ceulemans starts his 8th season with Westerlo and a decent season is again expected. Most remarking transfers are Dirar to Club brugge and the incoming transfer Tomou. If Tomou can reach his level before he went to the Africa Cup, he will form a deadly duo with Dekelver up front. In midfield and defence we see all the same solid names again.

10. Lokeren

DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image001.gif">

Transfers:
  • IN:Avi Strul (Maccabi Netanya), Ertan Demiri (Rabotnicki), Ahmed Touré (Afante Kotoko)
  • OUT:Madi Saidou Panandetiguiri (SV Wehen Wiesbaden), Preben Delclef (St. Wetteren), João Carlos (Genk), Griffin Devroe (Wetteren)

Friendly games:

05/07 Zelzate-Lokeren 0-6
08/07 Bornem-Lokeren 1-4
15/07 Lokeren-Farul Constanta 1-2
18/07 Lokeren-Litex Lovech 2-2
22/07 Hamme-Lokeren 0-4
26/07 Virton-Lokeren 0-5
30/07 Waasland-Lokeren 0-2
02/08 Lokeren-Al Rayyan 0-1
05/08 St-Niklaas-Lokeren 3-0
08/08 Lokeren-KV Mechelen 0-1

Analyze:

Biggest event at Lokeren this summer was the departure of their best player, Carlos to Genk, but with Strul , they already found a good replacement in the centre of the defence. Lokeren was the draw champions last season, therefore Coach, Leekens and president Lambrecht’s goal this season is to bring more attractive football.

11. Moeskroen

DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image002.gif">

Transfers:
  • IN: Christophe Lepoint (Tubeke), Bassalia Sakanoko (Peruwelz), Mamadou Diakité (Metz), Chemcedine El Araichi (Roeselare), Jaycee John Akwani (Al Muharraq)
  • OUT: Steve Dugardein (OH Leuven), David Grondin (KV Mechelen), Alexis Allart (Sedan), Geoffray Toyes (Brussels), Alin Stoica (?), Jean-Philippe Charlet (Brussels), Adolf Tohoua (Brussels), Bertin Tomou (Westerlo), Mickael Niçoise (Xamax), Hamdi Harbaoui (Wezet)

Friendly games:

26/06 Dudelange-Moeskroen 1-3
28/06 Boulogne sur Mer-Moeskr. 1-0
16/07 Deinze-Moeskroen 3-2
19/07 Ronse-Moeskroen 1-1
23/07 Union-Moeskroen 0-1
25/07 Reims-Moeskroen 0-0
28/07 Lille OSC-Moeskroen 1-0
31/07 La Louvière-Moeskroen 0-4
02/08 Moeskroen-Valladolid 0-0
08/08 Moeskroen-Heerenveen 1-1

Analyze:

Mouscron played some good friendlies. Few regular players left the club, but this is covered with the incoming transfers. They should not worry much about the big relegation battle and a 11th place would suit them.

12. Zulte-Waregem

DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image003.jpg">

Transfers:
  • IN: Steve Colpaert (Brussels), Stijn Van Der Kelen (AA Gent), Thomas Matton (OH Leuven), Franck Berrier (AS Cannes), Miguel Dachelet (Standard), Markus Neumayr (Duisburg), Chapi (Deportivo La Coruna), Zahir Zerbad (Stade de Reims), Danijel Subotic (Portsmouth)
  • OUT: Nikica Jelavic (Rapid Wenen),Frederic Dindeleux (KV Oostende), Jonas Vandermarliere (Hamme), Geert De Vlieger (Club Brugge), Matthieu Verschuere (?), Nathan D'Haemers (SK Beveren), Rudison Ferreira (Oostende)

Friendly games:

09/07 Wielsbeke-SVZW 0-5

12/07 KV Oostende-SVZW 1-0
16/07 SVZW-Brussels 1-1
19/07 SVZW-Rijsel 0-2
22/07 Izegem-SVZW 0-0
25/07 Amiens-SVZW 2-0
29/07 Hamme-Zulte Waregem 0-3
02/08 SVZW-Willem II 2-1
06/08 RC Waregem-SVZW 0-4
09/08 SVZW-Bari 0-2

Analyze:

Last year Zulte-Waregem ended 7th, which was really flattering considered their performances during the whole season. They were lucky in several games and did not deserve that place in the table. Experienced players Dindeleux and Verschuere are gone and If their key striker Leye gets injured they will have big troubles up front.

Still this team will not face relegation troubles at all.

13. Mechelen
DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image005.png" o:title="KVM">

Transfers:
  • IN: Wouter Biebauw (Roeselare), David Grondin (Moeskroen), Giuseppe Rossini (FC Utrecht), Yannick Thoelen (Geel), Joachim Mununga (Tubeke), Julien Gorius (Brussels)
  • OUT: Wouter Goris (Wilrijk), Anis Bouissaidi (Salzburg), Nicolas De Lange (Hamme), Ruben Gomez Garcia (terug naar Metallurg Donetsk), Pieter Crabeels (Waasland), Kevin Kempeneer (Waasland), Issame Charai (STVV)

Friendly games:

04/07 Groenrood Katelijne-KVM 1-7
06/07 Rapid Leest-KVM 1-8
11/07 KFC Katelijne-KVM 0-5
13/07 Kampenhout SK-KVM 0-8
16/07 KSK Heist-KVM 2-4
20/07 Willebroek M-KVM 0-3
23/07 Oudenaarde-KVM 3-1
26/07 KVM-FC Metz 0-2
30/07 Le Havre-KVM 3-3
02/08 KVSK United-KVM 2-2
06/08 Rupel Boom-KVM 2-3
08/08 Lokeren-KVM 0-1

Analyze:

Mechelen was a team with ups and downs last season, very irregular team. Although they were newly promoted, t hey were able to make it a hard time for the top teams with their die-hard fans behind them. This enthusiastic team will not be in danger to relegate as they kept all their regular players and added some quality with Grondin, Biebouw, Rossini and Gorius.

14. Bergen

DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image007.png" o:title="MON3">

Transfers:
  • IN:Mustapha Jarju (Lierse), Jérôme Van Der Zijl (Lierse), Ivica Dzidić (Zrinjski Mostar), Philippe Saint-Jean (Tubeke), Thierry Pister, Ludovic Buysens (Deinze), Steven De Pauw (Tienen), Cédric Collet (Brest), Grégory Delwarte (Doornik), Francesco Migliore (Lyon B), David Fleurival (Boavista)

15/07 Dordrecht-Bergen 1-2
22/07 KFC De Kempen-Bergen 0-9
26/07 Bergen-Olympic 3-0
30/07 Club Luik-Bergen 2-3
02/08 Namen-Bergen 2-5
06/08 Feignies-Bergen 2-3
09/08 Bergen-Atalanta B. 0-2

Analyze:

Dalmat, Zoko, Stolica, Nibombe and Nicaise were important players for this team, I have my doubts that they have found the correct replacements for them. Bergen will face a difficult season

15. Dender
DOCUME~1\Dauwens\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip _image009.png" o:title="DEN">

Transfers:
  • IN:Steve Jacobs (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Christophe Copel (Namen), Bart Van den Eede (Westerlo), Xavier Fred (Standard), Siebe Blondelle (VVV Venlo), Sulejman Smajic (Zrinjski Mostar), Michaël Wiggers (Bergen), Dennis Wittesaele (Gent), Alexandre Martinovic (AA Gent), Kahled Kharroubi (Valenciennes)
  • OUT:Henri Munyaneza (G. Beerschot), Marcin Zewlakow (APOEL Nicosia), Sebastien Dufoor (Tienen), Dieter Malfait (Oudenaarde), Gil Servaes (Anderlecht), Younous Oumouri (Kalamarias), Johan Gerets (Wezet)

16/07 Nijlen-Dender 0-3
17/07 Meerhout-Dender 2-4
18/07 De Kempen-Dender 1-4
19/07 Dessel Sport-Dender 0-3
20/07 Turnhout-Dender 2-2
23/07 RC Mechelen-Dender 0-2
26/07 Willebroek-Dender 0-0
27/07 Terjoden Welle-Dender 0-3
02/08 Dender-Leeds Utd 1-4
03/08 Lierse-Dender 1-1
09/08 Groningen-Dender 0-1

Analyze:

Munyaneza, Zwelakow and Dufoor were important attacking players, now the pressure is on Sylla’s shoulders, inexperienced Copel and old rot Van Den Eede are not realy an alternative, so for me the attacking department of Dender is very thin. Although big talent Derijck left in the midfield and defence they look ok, but probably to light for Belgian Jupiler League.

16. Kortrijk

Analyze:

Kortrijk convincingly won Belgian second division last year, but that also had bad effects, some good players left the club, while this club is still searching and testing many players, cause they need a larger squad with more quality to be able to survive this very difficult season. Very difficult matches in the first weeks could make it a hard start for coach Vanhaezebrouck.

17. Roeselare

Transfers:
  • IN: Thomas Troch (Aalst), Björn De Wilde (Francs Borains), Bart Goossens (Hamme), Vincent Provoost (KV Kortrijk), Ben Mestdagh (KV Kortrijk), Arne Vanneste (Kortrijk), Jessy Lebsir (Kortrijk), Jonathan Bourdon (Couillet), Nasser Daineche (Istres), Boubacar Dembélé (Beauvais), Yanis Papassarantis (Standard), Mourad Jalliti (US Quevilly), Jimmy Mulisa (Hamme), Janne Hietanen (Troyes), Cédric Bétrémieux (Kortrijk), Alexandre Tokpa (Beveren), Gunther Van Handenhoven (Al-Ahli)

Friendly games:

10/07 Izegem-Roeselare 0-3
13/07 Rumsbeke-Roeselare 1-4
16/07 AGOVV-Roeselare 1-0
19/07 Club-Roeselare 2-1
23/07 Rijsel-Roeselare 3-0
30/07 Deinze-Roeselare 2-1
02/08 TUS Koblenz-Roeselare 4-1
05/08 Waasland-Roeselare 2-1
09/08 Roeselare-Panthrakikos 1-2

Analyze:

Roeselare was the most active on the transfer market. It’s really crazy these in and outs, but the out outweigh the incoming transfers and for me Roeselare is the second relegation team. They already played some terrible friendlies and no improvements are expected.

18. Tubeke

02/07 Eupen-Tubeke 0-6
19/07 Tubeke-Kortrijk 1-1
30/07 Wezet-Tubeke 1-1
03/08 Tubeke-Franse Groep 4-0
06/08 Virton-Tubeke 2-0
09/08 Tubeke-Sivasspor 2-2

Analyze:

This team promoted to Belgian first league by winning the play-off games at the end of the season. They deserved it, because they had a good team, but several keyplayer have left the club and this will hurt them very much. Now they had to form a new group with a limited budget, impossible to make a team that can survive in Belgian 1. Friendlies already proved that they can’t even have a little hope to stay in the league.
