Arrow Austria - T-Mobile Bundesliga

Sturm Graz vs Rapid Wien

This is a derby of the opening round, famous club from Vienna are not favourites for defending the title since financially powerful Red Bull Salzburg are again considered absolute first place contenders, but it was the same last season when the Green got hold of the title. For the club ( Sturm ) that played three times in the Champions League while under famous Ivica Osim so much time out of Europe certainly counts as a failure. They again don’t have the squad for the top, the best player Prodl moved to Bundesliga and the back-ups are mostly average and not so famous players. Last year, Rapid were the most efficient team in Austrian Bundesliga. Their attack stayed the same expect for Bazina who left to Austria Wien. This is a tough team that surprised Salzburg, first of all with the fact that they didn’t lose points against outsiders. Rapid will try to reach the group competition in the Champions League, they will be the favourites in the second round in the duel against the better side from two legs between Anortozis from Cyprus and Pjunik from Armenia. Peter Pacult is the legend of Austrian football, he has been in Rapid since 2006, and he led Munich in Bundesliga. He will try to reach the Champions League and resist Salzburg in the fight for the top.

Away win and over 2.5 goals.

Austria W. vs Austria K.

Austria from Vienna, the most successful Austrian club can be satisfied with the season where they were left behind Rapid and Salzburg and they expect the similar result this season too and if they have the chance they will certainly try to fight for the crown. Last time they won it was three seasons ago. The team suffered some major changes, even 12 players left the team and moved to the newly-formed Magna club, founded by the recent sponsor of Vienna club. Klagenfurt side will meet Austria, Sturm and Rapid. Dangerous rivals for this average squad that have yet to train into top form. Captain Weber got injured in a friendly against Köln which is a huge blow before the start of the season. During the past few weeks they crossed swords with Steaua and the fact that they concede easily is a reason for concern. Judging by his statements coach Schnikels is not satisfied with the current form and the level of readiness. Austria Wien are the favourites in this match, perhaps the some what weaker form will disturb them but they could triumph in this match.

Austria win.

Salzburg vs Mattersburg

This is the year for correcting mistakes; Traptonni left the bench to take up the post of Irish national squad boss. New expert is also a famous name, a Dutchman Co Adriaanse. After leading Porto he worked in Ukraine and Asia and he signed a contract for two years. His imperative is to get the title back in Salzburg. The club again invested a lot of money and it will be real sensation if they don’t win the crown. Mattersburg ended the last championship in midtable, sharing fifth place. This club from eastern province Burgenland has a surprisingly great support in the region although the town itself has barely more than 6000 denizens. The Mattersbueg is weaker than last season and they will hardly manage to repeat the success from the last championship. What encourages the fans is that they team is well-coordinated, very combative and they usually don't make mistakes against weaker teams. Red Bull are absolute favourites.

Home win.
