**PLEASE READ BEFORE SIGNING UP**

This competition, popular in offices, clubs and workplaces across America is now being brought to PL for the first time. The competition will be split between those that have paid to play and want to win prizes, and a FREE to enter competition just for bragging rights. Players are expected to participate in both the loser’s pool and the Survivors pool, regardless of which group they wish to play in.

Summary
It really couldn’t be simpler. Obviously knowledge of the NFL could be useful, but not essential. Simply choose a team to win their game each week of the NFL season. There are only two conditions. Once you have used that team, they cannot be chosen again, and if you lose, you’re out.

Entry Fee
This year I am charging £20 to enter the competition, of which all will be paid out in prizes. This entry fee puts you in two competitions, The NFL Survivor Pool and the NFL Losers Pool. You can pay me by Paypal, Neteller or via a player transfer on a poker site (some allow this, such as Pokerstars). If GPB (£) is not your local currency, then it is your responsibility to transfer sufficient funds to cover the entry fee. Any entry fees paid which for any reason do not cover the entry fee will be retained until the start of the competition to allow people to make up any shortfall. If this does not happen, then the money will be returned (minus any processing fee charged by the financial merchants). Every effort will be made to contact players in the event of any problem and every effort will be made to try and solve any issue. You can enter as many times as you want, at £20 per entry.

Entry Requirements
This competition is being run for the benefit of the PL community. As such, I am only allowing ‘established’ members to play the pay to enter competition. In simplistic terms, this is any member who has more than 50 posts at the time of applying to join, although I reserve the right to have final say in any prospective players. If, for any reason, I decide not to allow any person to join in the prize competition, they will be allowed to participate fully in the free comp. If they do, they will be allowed to enter any similar competitions run by me in the future.

This competition is open to all members who joined on or before the 18th July 2008

Payout Structure
The payout will change dependant on the number of entries;
1-30 – Pays top 3 (50%/30%/20%)
30plus – Pays top 4 (40%/30%/20%/10%)

NEW PAYOUT STRUCTURE

The prize fund of £500 will be distributed as follows;

Survivor Pool
1st - £125 in free bets
2nd - £75 in free bets
3rd - £50 in free bets

Losers Pool

1st - £125 in free bets
2nd - £75 in free bets
3rd - £50 in free bets

Survivor Pool Rules

• Out of the NFL's 32 teams this season, each player must pick one team to win their game for that week.
• Once a team has been used by a player, it may not be picked again in a subsequent week (example: If you choose the Eagles in Week 1 you cannot use them again for the rest of the season).
• If the player's pick loses that week, they are out for the rest of the pool season. If all players lose in the same week, the results will be ignored (all players will be active next week as if they didn't lose); however the team picked will still not be available to that player. In the event of a TIE game, then it will be deemed as ‘not a win’ and you will be eliminated.
• The game will end when there is one remaining player at the end of a given week.
• Should there be more than one remaining player at the end of Week 17, then the game will ‘reset’ for the surviving players and continue through the play offs until one person remains. In the play offs, survivors will be allowed to choose a team they have chosen before.
• If there are more than two players active after the conference finals, then the tie breaker will come into play,
• If there are only two players active after the conference finals, then each player will be randomly given one of the Super Bowl teams. If their team wins, so do they.
• Each week a thread will be posted where selections must be placed. The deadline for selections is 6pm (GMT) on the Sunday, unless the team you are choosing is playing early in the week (Thursday/Saturday), in which case the deadline is 7pm (GMT) on the day of the game. If , for any reason you do not post your pick, you will have a default pick assigned to you for that week based on team rankings. The team rankings will be posted by me and will be based firstly on the super bowl odds for 2008, with a separator based on 2007 regular season standings.
• Posts must not be edited. If you have posted your selection early in the week, only for you to discover some team news that drastically changes things, you may change your pick. You do this by quoting your original post and making a new selection. This MUST be done before any games start or your original post stands.
• Clearly marked PM’s will be accepted (for Sunday picks only).
• I am the organiser of this game and any issues arising will be dealt with by me and my decision is final. I will always try and be fair.
• I will participate fully; I will play to win the prizes on offer. If I do win any prize I will donate the prize to next year’s survivor pool prize fund (minus my entry fee).

Tiebreaker
After the conference final, if more than two players are tied, the following tiebreaker will be used:
1. The win/loss record of the 17 Survivor picks from each player will be added together, and the two players who has the 17 teams with the lower combined winning percentage will win the tiebreaker and go through to the Super Bowl. The tiebreaker rewards the player that takes a greater risk by choosing weaker teams during the year.If there is still a tie between players after the tiebreaker is enforced, then the prize will be evenly split.

Loser Pool Rules
In essence are exactly the same as above, except instead of choosing a team to win, you must choose a team to lose.

This table will be used to allocate picks for non posting players. In the Survivor Pool the highest ranking team available will be picked to win and in the Losers Pool the lowest ranking team available will be picked to lose.

**For those that don't know - Pocket Lady is my wife.... She sits through about 12 hours of NFL a week (more when the extra games start) so I'm happy for her to play. However, what she does in this comp is none of my business. The first I'll know of her picks is when she posts them up.

At some point I'll be contacting you all to arrange payment, and so when the comp is over I'll contact the winners and ask them how they would like their winnings sent to them.
