| NEW ORLEANS at PORTLAND ![]() A duel between two teams with a different moral right now. The Hornets are having their best early season ever and that isn't even weird. Who has read my preview about the Hornets, read that if they could handle all their best players healthy, they would have a very positive season. Yesterday against the Lakers, the team was almost perfect: 47.2% FG, 14-25 3 pts with Peja stellar with 10-13, a new franchise record. Chris Paul had 21 assists and the team had 29-12 a/to and went 20-22 in FT. Today they have a match against a team from the same conference and the doubt that exists about the team is to know how they will approach this match. In psychological terms, the team will be more relaxed, as they just had a perfect exhibition and a against a team that is 0-3 right now, they won't be as aggressive as they were yesterday. It's hard to have a reliable analysis about Portland right now. Come on, they have played 3 road games against the Hornets, the Spurs and the Rockets - 3 elite teams. Now they will finally play at home and we will finally see what they are capable to do. + 3 Blazers tonight? No thanks. It's necessary to get a better evaluation about the team. But go against an elite team right now isn't the better decision neither. The practice of Portland last Monday was an authentic fight. I read some articles telling that: "The winless Trail Blazers increased their intensity and furor during two passionate practices this week, intent on erasing a disastrous season-opening trip that tempered high expectations." "Practice was so heated Monday that players were on the verge of brawling on more than one occasion. Expect the motivated Blazers, if nothing else, to come out in similar fashion tonight -- trying to smack the New Orleans Hornets in the mouth when they make their Rose Garden debut." "Also, outside of a spirited effort against San Antonio and an assertive fourth quarter against Houston, the Blazers did not display the hard-nosed underdog edge that McMillan says is necessary for the team to succeed this season." A team can't change their style of play in 3 days, but the aggressiveness of the players will be useful for Portland. In their 3 games until now, they only went 36 times to the line - 13 @Spurs, 7 @Hornets and 16 @Houston. McMillan said that he wants the team to play like they did in the last quarter against the Rockets (partial of 34-27). In that quarter, Portland went 8 times to the line (8 in 17 on that game, almost half of the times). For today I hope that they are more aggressive in defending, but specially in the attack. The Hornets have a very fluid style of play and they will be a little bit relaxed. The aggressiveness of the Blazers in the attack will make this game to have a good and high level.
