EventToronto Raptors vs. Boston Celtics

ReasoningYou only need to take a look at the last game this two put togheter and you will have no doubt regarding the winner in this confrontation. The Celtics have fought for 3 quarters but fell dramatically in the 4th against Indiana when Jermaine O'Neal has steped up. Untill they get their star back in the line up they look like a sure victim.Pierce wil not return for this game. furthermore, they have lost Sczcerbiak for at least a week and Tony Allen, the guy who tried to supliment the lack of offense after Pierce got injured is out for the season. things look real bad for the Celtics. The Raptors on the other hand look real good, winnint 2 of the last 4 since they got Bosh back and the looses came at a 2 point difference against mighty Phoenix and against the high flying New Jersey , who showed just last night against Chicago in just what form they are. I think this is a sure bet and don't think the Celtics will stay in the game for more then 2 quarters. Good luck!!!

hey Shaq and welcome to PL. Great first post...It makes perfect sense to back the Raptors today, and one could believe that the line will go up. With return of Bosh and great plays by Bargnani, Raptors are IMO capable of big things..even bigger the following seasons.

Would you agree that the under play (dont know the line) is also quite a logical consequence in this one - no Pierce and Sczerbiak....

Good luck mate, im with you in this one.

Minni @ Memphis under 218.5

League: 4-12 under (-2.8) home 4- fav, 2+ days off a 10+ ats win as home 4- dog. [Mem]
0-9 under (-8.3) if opp is off any ats loss....inc. Denv 96-101 Sac (214.5) this season.

Memphis ay! Crap defense, fast pace, no-one cares attitude...12 straight overs and 13 of 14....but now totals are just getting too high.
4 of last 8 at home have gone over this number, but bad defnsive teams of Lakers, Boston, GS and Seattle (OT) have made this total simply too high.
Minni road game av. 181.1, and they are 1-15 under this number away...the high scorer being 112-109 @ Denver in the second game of the year, where both teams shot over 50%.
Just too many points.

I also see Dallas as winners, but 1.50 is pretty bloody short really for a road fav...ceratinly wouldn't back against them, but -4 is getting dodgey..

...Will definately be taking Houston. Hoping for -2, if not ML it will be @ 1.60 or better.

not too sure about that m8 . The way memphis are running their offense , timberwolves may get into the thick of things and go into a scoring spree with them . Gluck with your bets anyway

I don't think Boston stands a chance. They got 8 players I think for this one. Only 2 regular first team players. Jefferson and Telfair. Al shot just 18 % last game vs Indiana with just 4 points and he won't do better against Bosh, while Telfair is more of a passer than a finisher. They won't keep up with neither their stamina , nore man to man matchups where they are down not only against the Raptors first 5 players but also against the bench. No way Boston will be able to stay in the game. Thx for the welcoming and I hope you have made the right choice by going my way. Good luck man!

ReasoningI don`t like to favour guest teams in NBA,but I must do that now.First reason is fact that Boston is in deep injury problems.Four starters are out, including Pierce,Szczerbiak,Allen and West,so it`s obvious that Celtics will have hard task to survive this one.

Toronto is in OK form, winning 3 out of 4 last matches, but I`ll repeat:the only reason why I am with Raptors is absences in Boston.

EventMiami v Golden State
SelectionJason Williams to score more 3's than Mickael Pietrus
Strength10/10

ReasoningThis one is a bit more dodgy than yesterday's tip, but in the last three games:

Williams has averaged 2 per game from 5 attempts, where as Pietrus has only averaged 1 per game from 3 attempts.

ReasoningIndiana has won three in a row, but against whom? NO, Atlanta and Boston.

Nothing to be proud of.

Dallas on the road, should be able to take it to these guys, but with Indiana playing at home and with winning form, I'm expecting them to keep it close.

ReasoningCould be a great upset tonight.

Boykins will start for the bucks, who with him at least have something decent in Bogut, Patterson and Boykins.

Philly just lost Webber and have also lost four games in a row (same as the bucks).

I just think when it comes down to it, with all the injuries and signings, Milwaukee will be the more balanced team, and $3.35 is pure value.

ReasoningBoston dropped its last game, a 97-84 decision to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, the team lost guard Tony Allen for the season with a knee injury.

Allen was averaging 11.5 points on the campaign.

Boston also should be without injured regulars Paul Pierce, Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak and Theo Ratliff.

Toronto have been in great form and should pull out a big win here today.

ReasoningAtlanta is averaging just 79.1 in its last eight contests and has dropped 10 of its last 11 games.

Detroit should do this easy.

Houston -2 (Bought the 1/2...1.87)

League: 13-5-1 (Av. win 4.9) away 4- fav, 1 day off a 15+ ats win as a home fav, if opp is off an ats loss.

Denver also in a bad trend situation.

Basically Houston are the better team. Their defense has been outstanding lately (with Mutombo starting @ Centre), holding teams to under 40% shooting in their last 8 games (on av).
J.R. Smith back, but he's inconsistant at best...I have no idea what they were thinking by trading away Earl Boykins!! I can't imagine Steve Blake chipping in with 20 points a night.
Houston won by 3 last season @ Denver, without Yao or McGrady, so there's no reason they won't win again tonight.
