A shame so many games have been abandoned due to weather on a day that means so much in baseball, Jackie Robinson day.

NYY (Petite) @ OAK ( Harden)

The Yankees record looks poor at the mo by their standards but a slow start is usual for them. 5-5, but the suprise is the winning recod is currently their road record, 3-2. theyve averaged over 5 runs a game in their last 5 games and always look capable of hitting runs. The Yankees story is usually to outscore their opponents and they fall flat when their bats have off days. Hopefully some of the pressure should be eased with Petitte on the mound. From 2 starts this year (and 1 inning of relief) he's 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA. He'll need to eat a few innings though as NYY used 7 members of their bullpen last night in their 4-3 13 inning win over the A's.

OAK are 5-7 for the season but 5-5 in their last 10. Home record is 2-3.
Although theyve scored 8 runs in the 2 games so far in this series, the A's bats arent swinging at all, well theyre swinging, just not making any contact. In the 6 games before the Yankees came to town they had only managed 11 runs. Not a good outlook against a team that plays to outscore their opponents rather than limit their runs.

Harden takes the mound and is 1-1, 1.38 ERA for the season. After a solid game against Seattle, Harden had some hard luck against the White Sox. A 28 pitch 1st inning before finally settling down and finishing allowing 5 hits over 6 innings. Just a shame 2 of those hits went for homeruns.

Although they didnt use quite as much of their bullpen last night, the A's still used 4 members including DiNardo taking 3 innings at the end.

Suprised to see Yankees as the dogs for this game. Bats are doing well whereas the A's bats arent. Yankees weak spot is their pitching but in Petitte they have a reasonably solid starter in this game.

NYY @ OAK
NYY to win @ 1.99

3pts (B365)

Rivera, who is usually lights out, done the unthinkable. Coming into the 9th inning with a 2 run lead he takes down the first two batters, as youd expect. He then allows a single. Next he walks the 4th man and then gives up a 3 run homer to Scutaro to hand OAK the victory 5-4.
