Default WSOP Main Event Bollocks

Read on cardplayer.com that the main event final table will be played in November!?!

This HAS to be a joke?

Saw this earlier on another forum and assumed it was an elaborate joke ...

Even now every sinew of my body is saying this is a very elaborate joke ...

... Because i can't think of one good reason why it would be done. In fact my mind literally cannot fathom the thought of the final table being put back for months so i'm just going to pretend it's not actually going to happen otherwise my brain will frazzle .

Seriously ... WTF ... Suppose it is america after all ...

Guess it pushes the 50k HORSE as the most prestigious event in the world now ... but that will never be good for the WSOP as a brand because barely anyone can afford 50k for one event nevermind a HORSE event so it will never 'catch on' like the main event which they have turned into a farce ... if true. ...

This is the biggest load of b****x that Harrahs have come up with so far!
Yet again everyone bows down to their TV masters.
How long before the Champions League final is held over until August in order to be "The Soccer Season Opener"
It aint right, it aint broke dont fix it.
If I make the final table I will refuse to turn up in protest
But seriously anyone making the FT can then spend weeks of coaching from a top pro. Its going to be like the Davis Cup with players leaving the table and consulting their "coach" during play (in-between hands).
Here's an idea why not give all FTablers their own coach and film the coaching sessions as a seperate tv show. They could call it "Strictly WSOP", "Bluffing with the Stars" , "Search for a Flop" , "New Facecards" (one for you oldies out there) or "You could be Phil Hellmuth Jnr"

When I first saw it I thought it was a ridiculous idea. But having a read about it and a think, I'm coming round the idea. One years trial isn't going to hurt I suppose. Problem is I've already booked a weekend away for those dates in November, so now I'm going to have to cancel it!

I disagree with that. Does anyone making the Final Table really need that much coaching?

The organisers will be praying some pros get to the FT or else it's a sinking ship. Nobody will give a toff if there's a load of no-names on the FT no matter how much they tried to big it up.

It comes down to generating more money. By freezing the FT huge sponsorship deals come be ironed out with all the players and spin off programs will be aired of the final tablers. It's just a very shrewd marketing ploy.

I dont feel the standard of play on the last 2 final tables has been especially good

It's not just coaching though - it's time to recover (the WSOP is deliberately gruelling - it's a test of endurance ....), time to consider and develop your gameplan, time to research your opponents.....

I'm not necessarily against it (though waiting 5 months seems madness) but it does change the nature of the final table totally for me.....

Agree with you their GaF, the standard was,nt the best especially by the winner! What,s happened to him by the way. Every winner normally gets top level sponsorship from one of the big sites, or are they uneasy like myself with his ramblings on the FT last year.

The reports say that all the players at the FT will be paid 9th place prize
money immediately, and the rest will be put in an interest-bearing account
with the interest being added to the prize pool.

Ah right, that's pretty good.
