Looks like the Excalibur is still doing relatively cheap fixed limit poket ($1-$3) which is fun if playing non-seriously and drinking especially if you can go into robot mode rather than silly mode when inebriated (then you might make a little on the deal) .....

A lot of novice poker players cut their teeth at the Excalibur poker room because of the low limits. The 1-3 holdem game is essentially a drinking game. The players are TERRIBLE, and the environment is fun.

It is nearly impossible to bluff someone out of a hand, and family pots pre-flop are not unusual because at the 1-3 game nearly everyone will limp in for only $1.

The Excalibur is the place to play for novice players, and even seasoned professional's may find the soft competition to their liking.

One word of caution. It seems there are more and more regulars in the games at the Excalibur. This is because the word has gotten out around Vegas that the Excalibur is such a soft game. Because of this, the Excalibur competition seems to be generally tightening up. This is especially true at the 2-6 game. It is still generally soft, but I am seeing a lot more locals in the room. It's nowhere near as hard as most other rooms, and local players are not necessarily better players, but they are less likely to be piss drunk and dropping Benjamins into the table.

Also, the $100 min/max buy-in No Limit Holdem game is also a very juicy game. The NL game is usually a lot tighter than the spread limit games, but if you have an itch to play like the pros (in other words, an itch to play no limit), then the Excalibur spreads a great entry level no limit poker game. Lots of players make very profitable mistakes here.

I'm crap at cash, and even I made money at the Exalibur last year!

most rooms have similar cash formats ,its only the really flash places(venitian,bellagio etc) that dont have $1nl and most are pretty weak(well around the 1/2 2/4 levels i've played anyway)

the ip's cash games are at least as weak as the excalibers i would say

I would take a jacket or some kind of fleece for inside the Rio as The Amazon room can get freeeeeezing.

Or you could buy a WSOP hoodie just outside like I had to do last year mid way through a sat as hypothermia had set in

got here about midnight and it was around 90ish.
i'm well and truly jet lagged

the flights etc weren't too bad and to be honest i think a break in the middle isn't a bad idea(especially as it saved me £300)
