Default Luton G Casino last night

Played a corporate event at the G in Luton last night for suppliers to the Rank group. It was £20 buy-in, half of which went to a local charity, plus unlimited rebuys for first 2 hours. Best part about it was free booze all night

Half an hour before the start there were 4 tables full of people learning the rules

Anyway, tourney had 68 runners, rebuys and add-ons took prize pool up to £2150! 1000 chips to start, and 2 x 1 hour levels to start with.

First hand on my table was a sign of things to come - everyone limped except me (fold) to BB, who went all-in, and got one caller. BB turned over AQ, caller 92. cue hysterics all round when board showed 229xx!!

First hand I played was in SB with KK. Loads of limpers again, so I raise to 225 hoping to get one or 2 callers - I got about 6 . Flop of 10 6 10 scared me, but pushed anyway, and got called by short stack with 55. Only played one more hand in first level, when my BB flopped top 2 pair, giving me about 2800 chips by first break (and buffet). Second hour got very lucky with JJ against AK with A on flop, when I spiked a J on the river. By end of rebuy period I was comfortable with about 10k.

Then levels went turbo - from 1 hour to 15 minutes!! But an early double up with AA v KK helped me along. Got to final table 3rd in chips (about 30k, leader on 75k). Four handed I limped with QJ, and then bet pot on the Q high flop. Chip leader reraised double the pot, so I shoved. His instant call had me worried, until he turned over......Q3o

Plain sailing from there, rivering a flush to take the 1st prize of £760 plus a nice trophy - not bad for £20.

Nice one

There are those on PL who would say that such a game was unbeatable, and was just bingo - glad you used your superior skill to take the noobs down

Cheers all. The game was a bit scary Gaf, reminded of the old Safety Net! I just folded all my marginal hands until final table, and whenever I got a premium hand tried to get as many chips in the pot as possible. I did get lucky with the JJ v AK, but other than that I was ahead in nearly every pot I entered.

There were 2 other guys from my company there aswell, both of whom play quite a bit online - they both made final table, so I think in the end, most of the regular players made it deep.
