You said you might come along to the main event. An entrance fee of Sin$20 is being charged for spectators. Up to you mate but that's a lot to pay just to watch poker.

I've just been told that the Government has changed the rules, no new spectators being allowed in because "poker isn't a spectator sport".

hmmm , as far as i know , Poker may seem to be gambling from the govt's point of view . In Singapore , Gambling IS ONLY LEGAL if you're betting through the legal channels . Thereby , other forms are not legal though But heck it , plenty of people here are giving their business to other bookmakers on the internet too , due to the very low payoffs on favourites here . Hence , if you are the sort who favours underdogs to win games every single day , you may be in for a huge paycheck . Or Draw games as Draw odds over here are among one of the best in the world . Check it up if you have the time m8 . Our legalised betting channel is known as Singapore Pools . However , our betting options are fairly limited and if you have the time to visit one of them , let me know how that compares with the UK ones .

The Legal channels which i am talking about are my local outlets which offers selected games on the major leagues [If you were to bet on them , you would gone bonkers . E.g Man U vs Watford , odds on major bookmakers may be 1.10 - 1.20 , our local bookmaker may quote 1.07,1.08 which is bollox in my opinion .]

Not very sure if Poker is popular here as there have not been any live or delayed Screening of poker shows .

We do have gambling shows here [Old ones to be honest] and they usually associate poker with Gambling . Basically in the shows , they only play 5 card stud .

Not too much of a surprise if this event wasn't allowed any spectators in as i didn't even see any commercials or anything mentioning about this poker event which is to be held here .

Perhaps when the casinos Sets up in 2009 ,[HOPEFULLY THERE IS A POKER ROOM THOUGH] poker may become popular here . For now, i don't think so as the Govt strongly discourages Gambling in our region .
